Favorite Sonic Levels (Genesis era)

Ice Cap. . . Act 2 especially
Hill Top. Nobody seems to appreciate this one, but the rising lava was cool. And I liked the music.
Hydro City, Awesome graphics. The fastest water level.
Lava Reef. Probably the most cinematic level in all the genesis sonic games

Casino nights for the win. I love the music to this level in Sonic 2. I don't like slot machines. But if sega made one. I would lose all my money to it.

Well there's sega made slot machines, and then there's slot machines with a sonic theme. You can't have both. . . that I know of. I think they got out of the slot machine manufacturing business a long time ago.

I really enjoyed the flying fortress levels from number two. I really disliked water related levels.
Is Ice Cap from Sonic 3 or S&K (I have not finished either and cant find a decent priced copy of 3 and don't want to play S&K until I finish 3).

Sonic 3, but you
need to play the full game as it was intended to be played by picking up both and plugging Sonic 3 into Sonic & Knuckles. That would also solve your dilemma as it would force you to play everything in the correct order.
As for favorite Sonic levels... well, fuck, all of 'em. If I
have to pick some out, Hydrocity and Ice Cap are up there somewhere, but really, there's just a small handful of levels that I like a bit less than the others.

yeah my personal favorite is ice cap and in S&K there is a pyramid level. the name escapes my name, sorry.

Greenhill Zone and Starlight Zone from the original. Seriously, Greenhill Zone is memorable for ALL OF US. It first introduced us to Sonic's world and Starlight Zone just had a cool soundtrack
From Sonic 2, Chemical Plant Zone, Mystical Cave Zone(cool soundtrack), Skychase(fighting airborne enemies on a plane=cool)
Sonic 3-Ice Cap Zone(snowboarding and cool music FTW!)
S&K-It's hard to pick favorites here. This one really had the best levels of the series. They're all pretty awesome. Of course, Doomsday Zone is just cool beyond words, but it's not a real stage now is it?
