Hey guys,

Quick back story; I recently just ended a relationship with a girl I had been seeing for quite some time, and as I live in a college town all my friends have flown home for the summer I now have excessive amounts of time on my hands. Even though I exercise, hold a job, and have all the games/movies in the world, I have been bored out of my mind lately.

I imagine most of you have been here at one point or another, and I'm curious as to what projects you picked up to pass the time. Looking for any good ideas here, I'm open to most of them, but I'd really like to build or make something that requires learning something new.

I've been contemplating buying a soldering iron and a DIY electronics kit to mess around with as it seems like it could be fun learning more about them in general. I'm also in the middle of making a Python based text game which is pretty fun, but becoming increasingly more daunting.

Suggestions?

I built a (half-assed) arcade cabinet.

I used to build houses.

a) Mame Cab
2) Do some basic console mods (region, frez mods, etc)
iii) Go pick up girls

Pickup a book on masonry or plumbing. I kept a masonry book by my head at home for about a year, reading it randomly. I ended up using what I learned in it several dozen times since then.

But if you want something more techie, you can never go wrong with learning to solder properly.

Volunteer for your local Habitat for Humanity. Or any other non-profit organization that you may care about.

This is also a great way to meet new people, including women. Awesome potlucks after the project is finished too.
