There wasn't a good forum for this, but it was a Sega system that inspired me to ask...

OK, so I've been playing Championship Pro-Am on my Xbox in NeoGenesis (with a Saturn controller). Fun game. Like a remake of the NES RC Pro-Am with slight tweaks to gameplay, and a big bump in sound and graphics.

Like the original, it kicks my effing ass after a certain point. I just can't beat it. Hell, I enter all the cheat codes, and I still can't beat level 19 (I think) without using the Slo-mo code, which makes it boring.

I am a fan of third-person racing. RC Pro-Am series, Super Sprint (series and spinoffs like Badlands), Super Off Road, Moto Roader (need to try 2 & CE)

The Midway Arcade treasures are great for playing some of these on modern-ish consoles.

What are your favorites? Do you have any good recommendations?

Powerdrive, released near end of Genesis/Megadrive's life cycle, didn't get much attention but it's pretty good when you get used to controls ... isometric rally racing.

One of the F-1 Circus games on Turbografx-16 is very good for an overhead 2D F-1 title ... F-1 Circus '92? Can't remember. Worth looking for though.

And, if you haven't tried any of them yet, there's always the classic Micro Machines series ... Micro Machines 2 probably best (at least on Genesis/Megadrive).

Thanks for the suggestions!

I also remembered that the Neo Geo had a few of those type of games. I played Neo Drift Out this weekend, and I believe that Overtop was one as well.

If you're willing to go way back, Fast Tracks for the C-64 was fun. Even had a track editor.
