So i figured id pick up a new controller since i have one of the old original non dual shock ones. It also feels pretty loose so i figured a new one would be better. I got the combo pack that comes with a game i just opened it and.. well the analog sticks are quite loose as well! not really any better than my old one, maybe by a tiny bit. I have ps2 controllers to compare it to, and my ps2 controllers are all relatively stiff, as are the xbox controllers
are all ps3 controllers just this loose, or did i get a bad one?
Sony PS3 controllers. are they this loose?

hmm thats odd i have 3 PS3 controllers and they're all just fine, my white controller has been dropped at least over 100 times and i dont have any problems with it, and my blue one the circle button gets stuck sometimes, its only a problem in street fighter tho! i think you just had a bad luck kinda thing

so the analog sticks aren't suposed to feel at least twice as loose as a 360 controller, or ps2 controller then?
Re: Sony PS3 controllers. are they this loose?
You didn't get a bad batch. All of the controllers are like that. The sticks require half as much effort to manipulate and aren't nearly as stiff as the Dualshock 1/2. Personally, I like it a hell of a lot more. They feel so much smoother.

so they're all like that then? I sually game on my 360 so i dont use the ps3 much, and the buddy of mine that has one loaned it to a friend who lives far away since he never uses his so i had no real point of refrence.
Blea. I was thinking i had bad luck or soemthing and was thinking of exchanging it

I can't tell a big difference with my big paws, but my son confirms that PS3 is lighter to push.(-_-) wrote:You didn't get a bad batch. All of the controllers are like that. I can also confirm this. I didn't really notice up until I played MGS3 on a PS2, followed immediately by MGS4. The analog sticks are considerably more 'free floating' on the PS3, where as the PS2 controllers feel much more 'snap-back rubber band-ish'.
That's the best I can do to describe the difference really, but there's nothing wrong with your controller.

My sixaxis are VERY loose. But my Japanese white Dualshock 3 (I imported as soon as they came out in japan) sticks are quite tight and responsive. Maybe Sony just gave the rest of the world shitty components compared to Japan?

i actually returned that one because the L2 button was messed up once i started using it,b ut the new one is just as loose on the analog stick. I guess tahts just the way they are... pretty lame if you ask me
Re: Sony PS3 controllers. are they this loose?
Import a Japanese dual shock 3, there's a big difference. They're slightly looser than the Dual Shock 2 but to be honest, I actually prefer them. The Sixaxis and non-JP DS3s are shit though.
