Your Top Five of Top Ten PS1 Games

Post by MHSGamer33 »

5 - Spyro the Dragon
Most people say the second or third one is the best, but the first is my favorite because it is the first experience with Spyro.
4 - Final Fantasy IX
One of the most commonly refered PS1 PRG favorite is Final Fantasy 7. But 9 is my favorite Final Fantasy for the music, story, and characters.
3 - Bloody Roar
A fighting game by Hudson, most people prefer Bloody Roar 2:A New Breed. However, the first is my favorite for the cast of characters and the amazing intro movie with music. Oh, the intro movie was so good, but the music was even better!
2 - Syphon Filter 2
The sequel was much improved over the first in my opinion, it tested the skills you aquired in the first one.
1 - Driver
I think Driver is the funnest video game I have ever played on any console. I love it so much, that I have problably beaten it over 30 times. A true classic!

5) Parasite Eve: Was one of the first RPG's I ever played and I loved the characters and the battle system.

4) Resident Evil 2: Tons of gore, cool and varied enemies, puzzles not as annoying as the first game.

3) WWF War Zone: My first ever PlayStation game, still enjoy playing it once in a blue moon.

2) Twisted Metal 2: Played it at a friends house for years before I ever bought it and 2 was my favorite in the franchise until Black came out. (Make a new one damn it!)

1) Metal Gear Solid: No other game I owned for the PlayStation sucked so much time out of my life. Replayed it over and over again.

Honorable mentions to Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, and Dino Crisis 2.

The only reason I got a PS1 was for the classic arcade compilations. I didn't have a computer capable of running MAME at time, so for me the PS1 must-haves were discs containing Smash TV, Marble Madness, Crystal Castles, Space Duel, Black Widow, Roadblasters, etc.

There are a few true PS1 titles that I liked, though: both Oddworlds, Driver and Ridge Racer 4.

5. OddWorld Series/Worms Armageddon - I know it's cheating but I couldn't pick a game out of these two. The OddWorld series is fantastic and one I've always enjoyed. Worms was a favorite of my best friend and I which we would play for hours.
4. Crash Team Racing CTR - While I enjoyed most of the Crash games this one was the best. I didn't have a N64 at the time so I didn't experience Mario Kart 64. I still think I prefer CTR though.
3. Poy Poy - My friends and I had endless fun with this game. Speaking of which, if anyone has a complete copy available for trade please contact me.
2. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - A true classic. While there are some great GBA/DS games this one is the pinnacle that they all aspire to.
1. Final Fantasy Tactics - I just really enjoyed this game. I hadn't played anything like it and I enjoyed being able to create my characters as I wanted them. It was set in the Final Fantasy universe and yet didn't have those inane random battles. Ninja Ramza anyone?

1: Metal Gear Solid
I know I haven't finished it yet, but its awesome! Goes above and beyond the PS1's standards. Haven't seen a single game like this one.

2: Tekken 3
Had a kickass combo system, kickass characters, and very fluent controls. The best out of the whole entire Tekken series.

3: Ape Escape
The most innovative platformer I have ever played. The gameplay scheme is so unique, and is executed perfectly. And there's monkeys!!!

4: Gran Turrismo 2
The best racing sim I have ever played. Perfect controls, and an endless selection of cars. The tracks were also pretty badass.

5: Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped
This is tied with the second Crash game.
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

5)Need For Speed Hot Pursuit - I spent an entire summer playing with my cousin that was laid up with some serious injuries.

4)Tomb Raider - The sense of exploration was unmatched at the time. It was awesome.

3)GTA - This one speaks for itself. I played the ever loving shit out of this. There was simply nothing like it that had ever been done.

2)Resident Evil - This was my first experience with a horror game. I tried it out for a bit at my Cousin's house and had to have it! I almost shat myself when the dogs jumped through the window. Beautiful game.

1)Silent Hill - Completely blew me away. The atmosphere in this game sold it and was the first game my Wife and I played together. Taking turns and watching it was almost as good as playing it.
