Help me make life decisions!

Post by fingersmaloy »

Okay, decision time: I've got 600 yen burning a digital hole in my PSN wallet and I've been eyeing a few options. In your eyes, which is the best game to get--Resident Evil 3, Dino Crisis, Dino Crisis 2 (none of which I've ever played), or something completely different, and why? All opinions appreciated!

I'm only going to say this: If you have never played games with tank controls before be prepared for a major shock! :P

Nah, I've played through Resident Evil 1 and 2 a million times and plenty of other games of that ilk.

I'm quite a big Resident Evil fan but in my honest opinion- 3 was a bit of a disappointment for me. I did enjoy Dino Crisis a good bit more but have never played through DC2.

If you are really a die-hard RE fan, then go ahead and get 3 (the nemesis may really get on your nerves so beware). You may enjoy it more than I did... but if you haven't experienced Dino Crisis- that would be my choice so it gets my vote.

Resident Evil 3 - The Dino Crisis games were a joke. Really more of an RE pallet swap cash-in on the popularity of Dinosaurs back in the 90's.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I dunno though, Dino Crisis 2 looks pretty action-packed.

Dino Crisis 2 is not a survival horror game. Pretty much straight up action. Dino Crisis 1 is a great game that I replayed sometime last year and it was still just as fun as when it came out. I played 2 last year also and I did finish it but it was nowhere near as good as the first. I have not played RE3 for a while but I remember enjoying it a lot. I would probably go with RE3 if it was my choice but if you go with the first Dino Crisis you won't regret that decision either.

I want to ask this here (sorry fingersmaloy): Is RECV still worth playing? I have both DC and PS2 versions, I don't know whether it's completable using emulators (heard of a gamebreaking bug using nullDC, don't know about the others). Are there some good bits in it?

Code Veronica is is a very good game. I would rate the RE series as follows...

RE1
RE2
RECV
RE3

I know most people would not put RE1 at the top but it is a great game and my favorite of the series. Anyhow, Code Veronica is great fun and you should give it a go.
