After getting my xbox off of ebay and putting 12 hours into panzer dragoon orta. Awesome game by the way. Im ready to move onto Halo. lol Picked up halo 1 and 2 for like $13 combined. Not to bad. Ive played halo for about an hour and half. Pretty good game. I had to start over on a easier difficulty though. I am trying it on "normal" now. I dont have time to play it on hard and die and keep trying. lol I want to story to move forward.
Anyways, the game is good. I am soo late to the party its not even funny. But I can see why it was highly regarded. It appears I could hook this up with other people if they still have there xbox and do a deathmatch. (So that I get the full tv screen). Having this xbox is almost like getting that new system that you always wanted but couldn't afford it. Anyone ever try playing halo with there xbox's hooked together?
Playing Halo combat evolved for the first time.

Yeah you an system link them.
Do you honestly like this game? Have you gotten up to the flood yet?
Quite frankly, I hate this game. The hype it generated before it's released only made playing through it more unsatisfying, even on co-op.
Halo 2, on the other hand, I did enjoy significantly better.

I'll never play Halo on the Xbox. I do, however, love it on the PC. You can even play it online!

Uh oh, here we go. Incoming PC ElitismZiggy587 wrote:I'll never play Halo on the Xbox. I do, however, love it on the PC. You can even play it online!
Next you'll get the usual bunch of posts complaining about Halo being overrated and how much better every shooter and shooters in general are on PC
There's a lot of Halo haters and PC elistists on this board. You've been warned
Personally, I liked Halo but didn't care for any of the sequels that came after

For the most part, however, that statement is true... ¬_¬Gamerforlife wrote:Next you'll get the usual bunch of posts complaining about Halo being overrated and how much better every shooter and shooters in general are on PC.

We dislike console elitism too.Gamerforlife wrote:Uh oh, here we go. Incoming PC ElitismZiggy587 wrote:I'll never play Halo on the Xbox. I do, however, love it on the PC. You can even play it online!

And speaking as a guy that plays lots of FPS titles on the PC, I enjoyed Halo more on the Xbox. While I'm not a big fan of the series, I definitely have to give it credit for its splitscreen co-op. And I actually liked the Flood more than any other enemies. The level they are introduced in kept a decent horror vibe going up until the reveal, and then I got to wade through hordes of enemies with a shotgun.
My biggest complaints were that the game's overhyped, the game feels repetitive(I'll admit it, certain levels moreso than others. Library is particularly bad), and the multiplayer didn't really impress me(I had more fun playing Deathmatch in Red Faction on the PS2).

I just dislike how so many PC fans try to promote the belief that shooters just doesn't work on consoles which flies in the face of reality(just take a look at what genre has been most successful on consoles over the past couple of years)MikeyW wrote:For the most part, however, that statement is true... ¬_¬Gamerforlife wrote:Next you'll get the usual bunch of posts complaining about Halo being overrated and how much better every shooter and shooters in general are on PC.
And yeah, Halo may be overhyped true, but the original at least was a well put together, fun game. And although many people may not like it, the reality is that it did get a lot more people into shooters, provided a control scheme that was simple and intuitive(even morese than Goldeneye or Perfect Dark)and really started the whole multi-player crazy in console gaming(not sure I appreciate that part personally). It also pretty much SAVED Microsoft and frankly is probably the only reason they managed to survive in their war against Sony and eventually even beat Sony(course you could say Nintendo has them both beat now LOL)
And I'm sure there some fans who probably discovered PC shooters after playing Halo on Xbox. It was an influential game, like it or not. I'm gonna leave this topic now, as Halo topics have a tendency to go on and on and on and on.......

Eugh. The Flood. I got to that level and it just felt so repetitive I didn't feel like I was getting anywhere, constantly retreading the same paths fighting the same respawning enemies and eventually running out of ammo and dying anyway. I never got passed it.

For what it's worth Halo plays totally different on pc than xbox. I wouldn't say it's good or bad, but the results are hilarious for the most part. Halo's a pretty slow paced game, but when you combine the slow pace with fast mouse controls it's like playing the entire thing in bullet time.Gamerforlife wrote:Uh oh, here we go. I thought the single player was alright, nothing special but not bad. The atmosphere was different, especially after the flood comes. Playing the game online, however, was a lot of fun.
There's also the fact that Halo CE was the first time I played it, and I ignored every one that couldn't shut up about Halo, so it was over hyped for me. It was what it was.

Nope, nothing to do with that. The PC version was a lot better. I'm not a PC elitist. I do admit, after getting use to the keyboard and mouse for shooters I don't much care for console shooters anymore. But I also don't care for most FPS these days anyway. Also, I play WAY more on consoles than PC.Gamerforlife wrote:Uh oh, here we go. Incoming PC ElitismZiggy587 wrote:I'll never play Halo on the Xbox. I do, however, love it on the PC.
