Sega Saturn Game Shark question

Post by adolobe »

I had a question that google could not answer

Im looking to pick up a Game Shark for my sega saturn I know its basically a Action Replay and when I look for codes online for some of the games I own they say created and tested on device 1.95

I know the EMS AR+ clones have 2.01 on them but Im not really interested in the 1/4meg ram expansion and the Game Shark is about $15 cheaper after shipping.

Does anyone know what firmware was on the GameShark? Of if there is an updated firmware for a Game Shark that goes to 1.95

I'm not really sure you'll find a definitive answer on this, but I have a feeling 99% of codes you'll run across will work on the gameshark. I wouldn't think you'd run into many (or any problems) with codes tested at higher version.

Well, you can't possibly say you don't like Metal Slug. Not to mention the Saturn version is better than even the Neo Geo CD version!

DO NOT USE THE GAMESHARK! The GameShark will ruin your Saturn's cart slot. This is a fact. It is absolutely worth the extra $15 to get the PAR, even if you don't care about the RAM.

Stay away from the Gameshark. I have had one for years and now it is the only cart that works, but it still don't work all of the time. It has ruined my cart slot. I wish I knew this was going to happen 14 years ago.
