Is it worth it to get a PS1 just for SOTN?

Post by Pichu »

Hello, I really want to play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, but is it worth it to get a PS1 just for that? I think there will be other RPGs I can get my hands on, considering there are PS1's for $20...

just wondering on your Opinions

Yes, SoTN is worth it. However, I'd advise you to just buy a PS2. You could probably snag one for $30 on Craigslist if you're diligent. I don't understand why anyone this day and age would buy a PS1 except for collection purposes.

If your a collector then it's a game worth having.

If your just want to play it and already own a Xbox 360 then download it from Arcade. If you have a PS3 you can get it from the PS network.

If you're going to buy a system to play it you might as well get a PS2 since it can play PS1 games.

The game is worth more than $20.

Well besides as a collector item, there is the obscure Link games. It does mean two PS1s to buy. I have Assault Rigs, a great game with second set hooked up to a 1701 Commodore monitor.

But agree, if space is an issue the PS2 can handle almost all PS1 games.

(You can also play this in FPS mode)

I'd say get a PS1 just because they look cool, but PS2 is overall a better investment.

I actually just bought a PS so I could play SotN, because for some reason it had a lot of trouble working on both mine and my friend's PS2 (works with no problems on the Playstation). It was only $10 (+$10 S&H), and was well worth it.
