Metal band making concept album/video game duo
Hello,
There is a band called "Last Chance to Reason" that is making a concept album that will be tied in with the story of a video game. this is what their Myspace says:
Level 2 is a new take on both the concept album and the videogame. It is a melding of both arts into a unified experience. In Level 2 you will battle through fully interactive interpretations of Last Chance to Reason’s futuristic progressive metal. The game/album’s story unfolds through thematic riffs, stirring vocal hooks and progressive virtuosity while the player blasts his way through viscous gameplay inspired by classics such as R-Type, Contra, and Super Metroid. Level 2, a collaboration between LCTR and indie game developer Tom Vine is slated for release in 2010.
Here is a link to the teaser video

I know this is kind of a random first post, but I read this forum often and hav'nt had much to say until now.

This could be cool. The game looks tight but this band...
Metal is boring.
Metal is boring.

Depends on what ya like. It'll be interesting to see how the cd itself compliments the game (or doesn't). I think the game looks promising one way or another.

I'm sorry If anyone thinks I am beating a dead horse with this, but here is the bands blog that explains a lot in detail how the album and the game tie in together.
"There are some parts that just need to be choreographed in detail with the music – events on-screen happening with a specific guitar strum or crash of a cymbal. Solo sections in the music will make great use of this, particularly for the inevitable boss battles and other epic climaxes. This is where the story of the game can be told, acting as a more intimate and interactive kind of cut-scene, where you’re truly part of the music."
Being a musician and a big game fan is probably why I'm so excited about this, but I think a lot of gamers on here would be psyched as I am for this game if they read the entire blog

Damn right!
Nothing boring about REAL Metal. What passes for metal in the mainstream though...

I can def. agree with that statement. while metal is a broad genre, I am sick of playing with bands that claim they are "heavy metal" only to have them sound like a downtuned pop band. booo.

Sorry I offended you.
I was talking about modern stuff, I still listen to Megadeth and Iron Maiden. I heard the new Burzum album was good though.

I wasnt offended if you were referring to me. people like what they like. I don't think any other genre but metal could pull of something like a video game/cd combination, though. seems like both will be laced together pretty tight.
