Gameboy Advance

Post by dbeamer407 »

I've got a couple GBA's. I have the brightest (backlit) version SP but the casing is broken. I have two front-lit SP's and then the clear case original version of the GBA (without any screen lighting). I would like to use the bright screen from the broken unit in one of the others. I seem to recall seeing that people had swapped it into the regular SP's but I can't remember where I saw this. Does anyone know of a guide for this? Is there anything that needs to be changed or is simply plugging the ribbon in?

I am also wondering if it is possible to install the backlit SP screen in the original GBA. I like the larger size of the original. I'm not sure if there are voltage differences etc that might preclude the swapping of screens among different units and would love to hear any advice regarding these issues.

I'm all for this.

I can't really bring any info to the table as I've never really been inside the GBA or any of it's revisions, but the idea of putting the newer brighter backlit GBA SP-+ screens inside of an original GBA has been in the back of my head for about two years now.

I have no modding skills, but like Mod_Man_Extreme, i have also had this idea and told my dad about it. I like the feel of the original advance, and it would be so much better if i could actually play it at night without needing a dumb flashlight or turning the light on.

You should check out the works of this guy called Bibin, He does stuff like this, but mostly with DMG and GBC consoles.
