There's a really good deal at Direct2Drive right now on a bundle of Star Wars games:

This made me realize that there are an awful lot of Star Wars games out there. This pack only contains a few of them. I remember playing the old black and white Star Wars in the arcade where you had to shoot Tie Fighters and launch a missile into the Death Star. Star Wars games have been around for some of the earliest days of videogames and they continue on today. There's probably at least one Star Wars game on every major console. What has been your favorite Star Wars game, and why?

My newest Star Wars game is Star Wars on the Famicom. It's kind of cool because it comes in a silver cart. Not sure if I'll sell it or not. Either way, it looks pretty cool.
My favourite is probably the same as most; Knights of the Old Republic. Specifically the PC version, although I've also played through the X-Box version. KotOR2 is also pretty good, but the novelty of the first one leaves me with better memories of it.

I've played "Star Wars" on NES, the trilogy on SNES, and Battlefront and Force Unleashed on PS2. I thought all of these games had fairly generic gameplay, and the only appeal was in the Star Wars license.
But if I had to play only one of those on a desert island...I guess I'd go with either of the Battlefronts.

Hey, JT...you never spilled the beans on your favorite Star Wars game.
Re: Star Wars games (a sale and a discussion)
Was there an official Star Wars game for the Sega Saturn? I think the other major consoles got at least one...even the 32X had a Star Wars game.
Personal favorites include:
Dark Forces (PC)
Star Wars (NES)
Empire Strikes Back (NES)
Shadows of the Empire (N64)
Rogue Squadron (N64)
I actually own most of the Star Wars games for the Nintendo 64...which isn't that big a feat as there are only four. I'm missing Battle for Naboo.

Wow, I might have to get that pack. What was it, 5 games for $25? I never played any Star Wars games on the PC but this seems like a good way to try some.

My favourite is either Rogue Squadron on the N64 or its Gamecube sequel.
I love how the gameplay is so easy to get into and understand, but yet it's so hard to get the Gold Medals. There's plenty replay value right there.
Although I like how the N64 game features an original story and isn't based on any of the films, I think the amazing graphics and smooth controls of Rogue Squadron II make me slightly prefer it to the original.
A pity that they messed up the third one

It's hard to say. For the nostalgia factor, it's probably the old black and white arcade Star Wars. It was the first time I had ever seen a videogame attempt 3-D graphics (with the possible exception of Pole Position) and I was kind of blown away by that as a kid. I also loved Star Wars back then before the first 3 episodes were released and kind of tainted my view of the series. I still play the old Star Wars game when I see one in an arcade.dedalusdedalus wrote:Hey, JT...you never spilled the beans on your favorite Star Wars game.
For playing with friends, I think my buddies and I had the most fun with the old PC X-Wing space combat simulator. We would all go to my friends house and play for hours on his PC.
From my own collection I most liked the N64 Shadows of the Empire, largely because I enjoyed flying around Hoth.
I haven't played a lot of the more recent Star Wars games though. I have both Battlefront games, Jedi Starfighter, and Lego Star Wars II (original trilogy). I haven't played enough of any of these to say they are my favorite, but I feel like most of them appear to be better games than my older favorites, I just haven't had time to get into them.
I just bought this Star Wars bundle. The only game on there I have ever played is Dark Forces. Everything else is new to me. I'm excited to play KOTOR for the first time after hearing so many people rave about it.
