The Best Imports for Sega Genesis/MegaDrive

Post by racketboy »

I'm going to be developing a list of essential imports for every system, much like I did for the Dreamcast here:
http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2006/01/ ... mport.html

Please list your favorite Sega Genesis/MegaDrive games that were not released in the US. And, if you don't mind, include a sentence or two about why they are special.

The best import for Gene...

Yu Yu Hakusho!

Treasure, 4-player fighter WITH moves. Still break that out at parties...it's fun to know that you still know the moves after 10 years.

Don't get me started on Guardian Heroes...

my guess is this list will be filled with Japanese imports, but i have one from Europe that i think is a gem.

I like my action games fine, but action games that make you think, even just a little are a rare and beautiful thing on the genesis =)

Stolen from one of the other reviews
"innovative top-down action/strategy hybrid, best thought of as Lemmings crossed with Commando crossed with Dune 2."

Cannon fodder is fantastic! Brilliant game! It's best played on the amiga though!

BTW can you use the snes mouse with the snes port of Cannon Fodder?

80% certain you cant.
think the SNES mouse only works with the art game and like maybe 2 others

the Genesis Mega mouse dont work with it either on the genesis...
but I found the gamepad controls perfectly acceptable.

I havent ever gotten to play the amiga version... maybe once i mod the Xbox I will have to get a romset

Golden Axe 3 (The game doesn't make a great 1st impression, but wow does it grow on you) Way more moves then the first 2. 2 New characters, great branching paths, awesome music. The backgrounds lack detail but I think most are still pleasing.
