Do you know that game, yes THAT game, that everyone's talking about? They say it's the best game ever and that you just have to play it. So you run to the nearest game store with money in-hand, buy the game, rush home, pop it in, and then meet a gigantic pile of poo? Well then share your experience and tell us just what made you hate that abomination!
I have three game series's like that, and the first would be the Viewtiful Joe series. I have never been a huge fan of old school beatem' ups but I've had my fun with some. But the first time I put VJ into my Gamecube, I cringed with every second. Something about the game just didn't sit well with me, I can't put my finger on it, but it just felt tedious.
Second would be the Metroid Prime Series. Let me say, I LOVE the 2D Metroid games, and I love FPSs, but for some reason the Prime series just doesn't do it for me.
Last would Be Final Fantasy XII. This was a shocker for me because I love RPGs, and most Final Fantasy games, but every time I try to pick up the game I'm bored within minutes. It's one of those games I want to love, but just can't.

Re: Games You Hate That Everyone Else Loves
This will be interesting.
Super Mario 64 / Super Mario Sunshine / Super Mario Galaxy / Ocarina of Time: I don't usually enjoy 3D games. I've tried all these games multiple times, and just got plain bored. The only 3D game that I was ever able to enjoy was Portal, for its surrealism and quirky characters.
Any and All FPS: Again, simply not my cup of tea. I can't enjoy this sort of thing for some reason. (Portal isn't an FPS for those who didn't know)
If you go back to a genre that I actually enjoy, I was never able to get into the Kirby games. I just didn't enjoy it. Canvas Curse was great, but that's prolly because I couldn't fly over practically everything.

I know we've had two of these threads already.
Re: Games You Hate That Everyone Else Loves
For me, it was Killzone 2 for PS3. Yeah, its got awesome graphics, and some fun gameplay. But after playing it for a few days, I was just bored. I guess it's because of the grey, colorless, depressing scenery over and over again - bleh. If they're gonna design a game with tons of grey concrete and metal hallways and platforms, at least let me use a lightsaber or something really fantastic for a weapon. Heh, i guess that's why i didn't get into Gears of War so much also.

Team Fortress 2, GRiD, Prototype, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, the original Call of Duty, QuakeLive, most of the Super Mario games excluding 3, the World games, the original, and Sunshine. GTAIV, pretty much any game of this generation.
Granted I don't hate them, I just find them boring and uninteresting. I seem to gravitate towards games made in the first half of this decade and a little before (1999-2006). There is always 2 or 3 that pull me back to that era, like right now.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein/ Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
Rise of Nations
Quake 4.
Everything after 2006 seems so boring to me. I have no clue why.

Halo, Final Fantasy VII and the very first Legend of Zelda game for NES.
Halo: I've never really gotten that interested in the game itself. It's okay, but I still can't figure out why everyone loves it so much...
Final Fantasy VII: Dry, tedious gameplay. I'm kinda picky about RPG's, but this is one that I absolutely hate. The plot is okay, but everything else sucks.
The Legend of Zelda: Too damn hard. Though I still love the other Zelda games.

I'm surprised with someone mentioning GRiD..... that was a very good racer, and a game that does the best at depicting drifting. Anyways.....
HALO fucking sucks cant stand it....
Fallout 3..... have been trying to get into this game, but it's not really my cup of tea... I am gonna keep trying to pursue it more and see if anything changes in the next couple weeks.

Re: Games You Hate That Everyone Else Loves
Halo - especial Halo 2 and 3. Multi-player is nice and all, but if there isn't going to be a decent single-player experience, then I can find plenty better multi-player experiences.
Killzone 2. Everything felt so damn clunky, and considering I played it right after the liquid-smooth experience that was Resistance 2... ugh.
God of War. What an obvious male power fantasy mixed with quick-time events. Gotta love the quick-time events involving banging harlots - can there really be anything that says "Isn't this game so damn awesome?" more than that?
"Tales of" Games. Is it strange that the only one I liked was Phantasia? Sure, the cast was just as generic as any other, but at least Archie was fun. Every other one has been painfully generic, with plot twists you could see miles away. I couldn't manage to make it through even two hours of Tales of Symphonia, and I was eagerly awaiting the game too.
Kingdom Hearts 2. Painfully barren worlds, painfully easy combat, and a painfully large cast of characters with little to no background. Organization XIII is the most unnecessary and redundant set of characters I've ever seen. All this game had going for it was a load of flash, and - if you write yaoi fan-fiction - a game that practically writes the fan-fiction for you.
MadWorld. Here's a summary of the game: Pick up an enemy, and throw them at a death trap that gives you a lot of points. Repeat. A lot. Ruh-Roh! Boss Battle!
Announcers: "Holy Mother Fucking Shit on a Mother Fucking Shingle! It's Mother Fucking Boss Time! Mother Fucking tear those assholes a new God-damn asshole, Jack!"
Quick Time Event! Quick Time Event! Quick Time Event! Quick Time Event! You Win! Blood EVERYWHERE! Repeat for four hours until the game is over, unless you can't manage to subject yourself to the repetitious mediocrity for that long.
