I've been playing some Katamari Damacy lately and have had a blast with it. I have noticed though that I get a little queezy if I play for longer than 30 minutes or so. I feel a bit dizzy and I get the feeling that I've just eaten too much sugar. This is the first time I've had a game make me feel weird, and if I am being affected like this, I can only imagine how many young Japanese kids have gone into seizures by play Katamari Damacy.
Anybody else affected by Damacy or any other game for that matter?
Games that make you a little queezy
Re: Games that make you a little queezy
Personally? No. Though I think 1 in 4 people is supposed to have a problem with first person shooters. It may be a lower statistic than I'm thinking, but I've only ever met one person that admitted it.
Re: Games that make you a little queezy
the only time i feel sick or queezy is when i play the day after i didn't sleep well, "specially first person shooters". first i got to rest after i wake up and play rested i don't feel sick when i play.
but quake 2 makes me feel sick all the time rested or not.

Re: Games that make you a little queezy
Console FPSs often make me sick. Or any PC fps with a low field of vision like 75 or less, such as the Halo PC port. I want to puke almost immediately. TimeSplitters 3 especially gives me a hard time on PS2, whereas TS2 on Gamecube I never had issue with. Havent figured out why.
Re: Games that make you a little queezy
i cant think of any offhand....Its strange but im easily motion sick in cars and planes (dont know much about boats) but i dont think i have ever gotten sick from a game.

Re: Games that make you a little queezy
i get a little sick more often if I'm watching a friend play than actually playing.
The decent series and mirrors edge top the list of games that make me a bit sick when i watch someone play them.

I too have a friend that absolutely refuses to play fps games because he is instantly nauseous. Sucks too, he was a pretty avid gamer and then when there was a titlewave of fps games he kinda got out of it.Ack wrote:Personally? Re: Games that make you a little queezy
Ive found that if I am not playing the game that I can become queezy. Usually this revolves around a quick moving camera, ie Mirrors Edge's headache causing 180 degree turn button, or a zoomed in fps, ie Halo 2. When playing these games I rarely become sick myself, but somehow watching them makes me lightheaded.
I dont understand it myself. I mean, I played Alien in AvP Gold leagues and was quite good at the cycle running the tunnels. I also play four people in Serious Sam when I can. But somehow watching people play certain games gets me.

Re: Games that make you a little queezy
I didn't think any games bothered me until I played a game in Japan that involved mechs and the machines were stationed in large pods. Something about the combination made me so intensely nauseous that after two games I nearly puked. I was sweating profusely and had to open the pod for air after the first round. But I had paid for two games and nausea be damned if it's going to make me waste a credit. I won both rounds too.
Watching people play probably makes you nauseous because your mind can make a better connection with what's going on when you're physically controlling the action on screen. All motion sickness boils down to is the brain not making sense of what it's seeing and thus assuming there's a poison in the system, thus nausea to try to rid of the poison. In your case, your mind only gets disconnected when you're not in control.

Re: Games that make you a little queezy
After a long round of any Guitar Hero game or Frequency I get used to seeing that constant stream of movement and once it stops I feel a little dizzy. I feel like I should be moving forward but I'm not. It's kind of like when you stare at something like this for a few minutes and it messes with your vision:

Halo, Turok Evolution, Time Splitters 3, and Marathon Durandle make me a little sick, only ones I've found though.
Older. Not wiser.
