This boot disc claims to increase your PS2 to High-Def:

The real "win", if this disc works as advertised, is the 720p. No matter how nice your HDTV deinterlacer may be, the image is never as nice as progressive. Even if you get rid of the interlacing artifacts, the image is simply softer than the sharpness of a prorgessive.

But will it work, and will it work well? Who knows.

I'd buy it in an instant if 720p works - hell 480p upgradng is good enough - I'd love to run FF12 and Bully in 480p and 720.

Wether it scales 640x480 to 720p or 1080i or the game renders at 720p or 1080i you still have to wonder how the hell the PS2 can handle it.

If the PS2 can handle launching nukes, it can handle 720p!

haha, you know when PS2 crawls to hault in some slow down. Watch it now freeze, overheat and die in front of you!!!! YEY! Any extra processes placed on the system takes away from whatever other program you are running. It the same as when your computer slows down over time due to your porn induced spyware.

Come on now... first off 1080i is a joke in a console videogame... you get no more viewing area and the visual quality is lower then 720p in moving objects (it does make still images look great though).

Apparently Xploder is releasing a true VGA cable though which will make a lot of people very happy. On the other hand, seeing the PS2s jagged edges in that much detail might cause people to lose their lunch...

I thought Gran Turismo 4 could actually output up to 1080i, so why again would you want this?
Actually, don't regular HD CRTs all naturally run at 1080i, so for those, wouldn't it be better for the source to output 1080i than let the TV upscale and interlace the 720p picture?
Also, I'm suprised a lot of the PS2 games can't output 480p, lazy programmers. At least RE4 on the PS2 can do it, so the owners of that should be happy.

edit: Just thought that if you have a nice HDTV, it will most likely upscale the picture to its native resolution itself, so this kit may not actually be necesarry to a large amount of PS2 users i guess.
