Psx random resets

like the topic says i have old playstation that works but has a bad habit of restarting in the middle of a game..rather unfortunate since i was playing final fantasy 7..anyway does anyone have an idea what the problem is and better yet suggestions to fix it..

Suggestion #1: Emulate it
Suggestion #2: It's probably the PSU pins. Clean them, and clean the contacts which they slide into. If you are using the small PSOne, then you don't have any pins. In which case, it may be overheating. Perhaps the thermal pads slid off the IC surfaces.

suggestion 1 is good ePsxe does a good job of emulating.
suggestion 2..what are psu pins ? anyway im gonna open it up and take a look havent used that psx(it´s the old one) for long so i wont miss it if i mess something up

Open your PS1 shell. On the left hand side is a long power strip. On it, should be 4-5 thick metal pins, side by side, sticking up in your direction. Remove the entire power stip, leaving those pins standing up. Scrub them with rubbing alcohol and cloth.

thanks for the info..gonna try that out and see if my psx stops restarting.
