Pacman started it

Post by Adam Weisz »

Hi! I'm Adam. I started in the gaming world in the 80s when I received an Atari as a birthday present. Inclusive in the package was a Pacman game so I would play it day and night. Later, dad bought me a Nintendo family computer in the early 90s. The only game I knew then was Super Mario until I shifted to war games like Battlestar and space crafts like Galaga. This was all until the birth of PS and everything's history as the saying goes:)

I think I am one of the millions that Pac-Man is the reason I am hooked on video games. I used to play Pac-Man at the arcades and when I finally got it on the 2600 I continued to dominate Solar Fox instead of ruining my opinion of Pac-Man.

Funny... Pac-Man was always a fun way to kill a few minutes, but I never cared to play it for long periods of time. Games like Combat and Dig Dug and Yars' Revenge are what really got me hooked.

...Well, those, combined with Crystalis and Gradius a little later on...

I like Pacman but never really got into it the same as some of it's competitors... until I started playing Pacman Championship Edition. That's a game I truly love. The time limit turns it more into a strategy game. What's the best time to sacrifice a life to set up the perfect next round of scoring - what's the exact right path to follow to get the most points in the least amount of time and get the next power pill - Can the game be solved with a perfectly planned path getting the most points possible? Truly a masterpiece of a game.
I found the Atari 2600 version of Pacman to be the least good of the licenced console remakes. I think it was the reason Ms. Pacman was so popular for awhile - the Atari version was much better programmed.

Anapan - you need to add your name to XBL Gamertag thread. Add me: Radarscope1. I'm always looking to add more people to my PMCE friends leaderboard.

Do you still play regularly? I just got a SF4 fightpad hoping the d-pad would help my game, but unfortunately it's about the same as the analog stick as far as control and precision. Which is to say, good but not great. Still looking for a true 360 d-pad....

I cancelled my gold account because I had to leave town for a few months on some jobs. Might activate it again in a couple weeks when I get back home but I don't like playing multiplayer games much. I use it pretty rarely compared to my PSP and PS2. I actually only put it online to get Megaman 9, Pacman CE, Alien Homonid, Braid and some upgrqade patches for some games. I had some account glitches and had to do something to swap accounts around but I think my gamertag is Anapan not if not it might be Anapan2. I was pretty pissed off when they forced me make a bobblehead and haven't turned it on in awhile.
