Ebay buyers pfft

Post by Octopod »

From kcmase: Hello, can you ship this in a small envelope? This should cost less than $2. Let me know, and I'll buy it.

From me:No it would not cost less than $2. Ive shipped CDs in envelopes and they cost almost $3. Plus it cost me gas to get to the post office and paypal charges me a fee to accept money and ebay charges me another fee on top of that for selling on their site. As it is im probably just making space by getting rid of this cause I doubt in the end I'll get any kind of profit for it.

From kcmase:you are suppose to charge only actual shipping costs, you are not suppose to incorporate or pad the shipping fees with your paypal fees, and ebay fees. That's why eBay put the new seller rating system. If I do buy this, I'd give you 1 star for shipping rating (zero if possible)

From me:I dont givce a fuck what you do.

From kcmase:Go back to school and learn how to spell.

From me:What the hell are you talking about?

Let me get this straight for the record. You want me to get rid of my stuff and get nothing in return? You think that is acceptable? And I should take the time out of my day to post it up and then to drive to the post office in order to make nothing?

If kcmase uses this forum and sees this and gets mad...I dont really give a fuck. Youre an asshole.

What is up with people? I mean I can understand that a buyer does not want to pay my fees but do they think I am going to essientialy give them my stuff for free? Maybe I should just start the auctions higher to compensate from now on.

This relates uncannily to something I wanted to start a topic about. Namely, eBay shipping costs.

Before eBay started cracking down on jacked up shipping costs, I'd charge a bit more for shipping. It's the only part of the price for which eBay doesn't charge me a fee, so naturally it's in my best interest to distribute as much of the sale price to that unchargeable part as I can.

I don't blame eBay for instituting the limits on shipping costs they've got now. It's in their best interest to charge fees. What DOES tick me off, though, is buyers who get indignant that the shipping is too high.

I both buy and sell stuff on eBay. When I buy something, there's a certain amount I'm willing to pay. Suppose I wanted to buy Super Mario World for $15. I don't really care if it's $7.50 buy it now with $7.50 shipping, or if it's $12.50 buy it now with $2.50 shipping, I know I'm willing to pay $15 and I know 3rd grade math. I'm inclined to wonder if folks who get indignant over high shipping made it that far.

I used to get those all the time.
I simply use the delete button. They aren't worth my time.
Those are the same people that will complain about something when it arrives.

As a buyer on eBay, I've always noted the shipping cost when I look at the item, and then I add it to the buy price, and if it's too high, I move on. So if one item is $5.00, but has $5.00 for shipping while another wants $7.00, but only $2.50 for shipping, I get the cheaper item.

But I realize that it's not always a pleasant experience for the seller, so I always do my best to pay immediately, give any information that is necessary, and give them ample time to send me the product. If two weeks go by and I haven't seen or heard from the seller, I begin communicating with them, and it almost always gets worked out. Only once have I had a problem, and it was only because the seller refused to communicate at all. And I still waited four weeks before filing a claim over it.

And the only time I've had a product with an issue after I got it, I messaged the seller and we worked through it. Great experiences all around. Being polite will get you far.

Hell the auction is just for some boxed Genesis AV cables. $5.00 shipping .99 starting price. I'll just take it down and put it back up at $10 with free shipping. I paid ten dollar for it so Id still be loosing money but I dont need them and it is only a few bucks. As a fairly new seller on ebay im begining to question if it will be worth it to bother with most stuff.

You were in the wrong. If you want to sell at an inflated shipping price do it amazon.com where you are given a set $3.99 even though its very likely your item will cost under $2. Ebay added the shipping limits and stuff because of all the sellers with $.01 auctions with $8.99 shipping. Yeah, the total price would be $9.00 so maybe its still a good price, but don't get mad at eBay for their fees. They are providing you a service. If you don't like it sell them locally or elsewhere. They have added the shipping limits because people tried to dodge their fees and overcharge just like you did, which turns people off of eBay and hurts their business.

If he sends you a message asking you to change your shipping charges you aren't required to do it, but don't respond like a dick and then site eBay and Paypal fees as the reason you are trying to rip people off.

Don't sweat those kind of buyers. Just tell em to fuck off(which you've done a fine job of) and "block user" from bidding on any of your items.

That's why I never sell on ebay. Between 5/10 different forums you should be able to to sell ANYTHING.

I kind of agree with molotovwars here...As a seller myself I would never treat a customer/potential customer that way. I don't know if you were overcharging shipping or not, and it is your choice what you want to sell it for anyway. But you don't have to be a jerk and use foul language...that just doesn't speak well for you, and I personally would avoid doing business with you. You could have politely responded with a "good to know, have a nice day." and blocked the guy from purchasing from you.

Nothing personal man, maybe you had a bad day or whatever. I'm just going by what you posted. I just don't think selling some stuff on ebay entitles you to be a hot head.
