Assault Suits series

Post by MrPopo »

Isn't it about time we had a new entry in the Assault Suits series? Just based on Target Earth and Cybernator it's clear that there is a gameplay style here that hasn't been completely overused yet, and we need a new entry. We're starting to see 2D come back in vogue and this series would be a good one to join the fray. You got your eight way mech platforming action, which lends itself to some more interesting level design than the standard left-to-right. A bit of weapons upgrade management to top everything off and you have some fun times.

Ah, Cybernator.

A good example of censorship on the SNES, that was.

No suicides for you!!

Don't forget that all the character designs were literally drawn by a hentai artist. 8)

Some of my favorite characters were designed by hentai artists. =P Growlanser, for example, is one of my favorite series.

Yes! I L.O.V.E. Cybernators! This is one of those rare games that I have actually continued to play throughout the years. I love the way the controls fully utilize every button on the SNES. The alternate endings are all cool too. This is one of the few games I have listed as "mastered" on my backloggery. I have done just about everything you can do with this game. I've leveled up all weapons, I've seen all the endings, I've explored some of the variations in the story pathways, and I can beat it quite quickly, though I've never timed myself.

I never played Target Earth because I never owned a genesis. I might have to give it a shot on an emulator though because I love these assault suit games.

Did you ever play Metal Warriors on the SNES? That was another great one.

I have played a little Metal Warriors, since I'd heard it was similar. It's also quite fun, and the changing suits mechanic adds some spice to things.

The Saturn one is good too.

Try Spriggian 2 on Duo, its is more shooter but the mechs, weapons and story presentation reminds me of the Assault games.

Target Earth was the reason I bought and still own a Genesis. Only till after I found the multi-lives code did I ever beat this game and still wanted more.

I vote for a Target Earth sequel.

A true sequel ...

I've played (and own) Target Earth, Cybernator, and Assault Suits Leynos. Target Earth is by far the hardest. ASL was too hard until I got the hang of some level strategies and got the nasty laser weapon. Cybernator is definitely the most manageable and best for newbies to the series.

Target Earth, cybernators, and front mission gunhazzard (yah its not part of the ASL series but it was the same team that created cybernators so it played alot like it with a front mission twist) were great games! I would love to see some new ones too. damn now i think i might play some of these games now that im getting all nostalgic! ^^
