So, I'm thinking its about time to get a saturn memory card, as i dont want to lose my saves, but i was thinking i might as well get an action replay 4 in 1, for its other functions. Still trying to find one in my price range, but for the time being, can anyone recommend any saturn imports (preferably cheaper ones, though Im sure ill buy radiant silvergun someday), that dont require a firm grasp of the language?

I recently got Action Replay Plus for my european Saturn and the following japanese games:

* Virtua Cop
* Virtua Cop 2
* The House of the Dead
Waku Waku 7 (outstanding, Japan-only IIRC)
In the Hunt
* Baku Baku Animal (best puzzle game EVER)
Dragon Ball Z Shin Butouden (Japan-only)
Panzer Dragoon II
Dynamite Deka (Die-Hard Arcade in the west)
* Alien Trilogy
Last Bronx (japanese edition looks awesome with the sticker sheet, poster and all that :P)

* Ultra cheap ;) Also Fighters Megamix, Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter 2 and Sega Rally you can find for less than $6.

Two of the most interesting Japan-only games I've found are Assault Suits Leynos 2 (most of the text is negligible, but there's a FAQ floating around anyway) and Bulk Slash (navigators will guide you in Japanese, but there's also a guide arrow, or you could just learn the few phrases they use). If you like action, you gotta get those two games.

Im going to second fingersmaloy suggestions and add:
Should be relatively cheap:
Bubble Symphony - cheat code gives you full English
Elevator Action Returns - Elevator Action meets Metalslug...
Gokujyou Parodius: Deluxe Pack - quirky hori shooter 2 pack

More expensive:
Keriotosse! - precursor to Power Stone, IF you can find it
Donpachi/DoDonpachi - the best verts possibly ever

you can get both panzer dragoons really cheap if they're the import version.

Marvel Vs Street Fighter is a awesome japanese saturn fighter, the best fighter on the saturn imo

Here's my Saturn imports:

Virtua Cop II
House of the Dead
Metal Slug
Panzer Dragoon II

The only one that was never released in the US was metal slug and it cost me $18. Racketboy has a nice list of shooters for the Saturn, too, many of which were Japan only.

I'm just wondering what you guys think are some worthwhile imports I should pick up. Im really into fighters, and beatem ups, but I'm looking for pretty much anything. I was also wondering how much you guys thought a Saturn modded with the switchless region mod would fetch me. I just picked up a second Saturn and was planning on selling it or trading, once i did the mod.

Thanks in Advance!

there's so much good, detailed, and well-organized information on this site. only outside of the forums, though.

I would like to piggy back this question too because I just recieved Xmen vs SF and my Action Replay 4MB NIB today. I want Marvel vs SF but waiting for a better price. And I too love fighters, beat 'em ups, and action RPG's which I know Sega returns that love 10 fold.

I highly recommend vampire savior with the 4meg card. Makes it look like a dreamcast game ^.^
