So who watched the Battlestar Galactica finale?

So who watched the Battlestar Galactica finale?

Post by Gamerforlife »

Annoying that it came on at the same time at Dollhouse, which had its first truly kick-ass episode this week, which I had to tape on one tv while watching BSG on the other. Anyway, I thought BSG's finale was awesome. Was saddened by a certain character's death, more like a cold blooded execution actually. I knew it was coming though so I wasn't surprised. Still thought it was a really great episode though. I only wished Sci Fi could have aired all three hours instead of splitting it into two episodes over a two week period. Would have much preferred seeing the ENTIRE finale all in one sitting.

Just curious if anyone here watched it.

I loved it even though it was much different than I expected. Some of the resolutions /revelations were as direct as many people anticipated, but after they sank in, I was happy with it all.

also, the 1st half's battle was great and the 2nd half was beautiful and enjoyable.

Definitely had good and bad moments. Unfortunately, they left a few things unanswered. Some may get answered in the TV movies they are planning.

What things did you think were unanswered?
I had the same feeling initially, but most of the big things were explained -- just not in much detail

I also felt everything was answered. It's pretty obvious to me what a certain character was all along. So I don't know why everyone felt that wasn't dealt with. That character's final scene couldn't have made it more obvious. In my opinion, many of the questions we've had about the show had the answers in front of us all along. I think some people are just upset because they expected more surprises. Although the second hour had a nice big surprise that I loved.

One thing that surprises me is how some people are upset about the finale's religious overtones. That's ALWAYS been a part of the show.

You can't please everyone. It's interesting that certain things I heard people complain about BEFORE the finale were actually dealt with within the finale itself and yet there are people complaining about that too. LOL

So anyway, can we assume it's okay to state spoilers in this thread? If we're going to keep the topic going a little bit longer it seems necessary

Actually, to add to my last post, there are three specific scenes I can think of that told me what that certain character was. No mystery there for me. Okay, no more double posting

Let's get specific in here. I'm curious everyone's opinion.

You can talk in spoilers. Anyone who clicks on the thread title can reasonably assume there are spoilers.

I loved it. We've known that God elements were there since the miniseries. Not sure why everyone is hating on it.

Yeah, I didn't mind the whole high power thing. It effectively explains a lot of things. I thing Starbuck was a divine being, or an angel if you will. I would even go so far as to compare her to mythic characters like Jesus, Moses, etc. That easily explains her death and resurrection. Also, whether Ron Moore intended it or not, everything that has happened to Starbuck kind of fits with that theory.

She has never been "normal". She's had weird dreams and hallucinations. Some prophetic in nature. She's had extraordinary talents. Her natural artistic ability, combat skills far exceeding everyone else in the fleet(and yes, that includes Kat), a mind for "outside the box" strategy that Bill Adama himself has had to rely on before, and an unrealistic penchant for survival. Who the hell else could survive a fight against FIVE cylon raiders without god on their side? And then miraculously land on a planet that just so happened to allow her to survive, when she could have landed on any number of more fatal planets. Why not one with extreme, unsurvivable temperatures, or an all water planet to drown in? Remember how that episode played up how unlikely it was that she could be alive. Something has always been watching over her. Leoben has always said that Starbuck is special too. The guy who believe himself connected to god and who saw the future was OBSESSED with Starbuck.

There was a very specific flashback in the finale where we see him saying that he looks at her and sees an angel. Nothing else explains her disappearing in front of Lee at the end. Remember Anders last words to her? See you on the other side. He knew he'd be seeing her very soon, because she had completed her divine purpose and would be called back to god very soon.

Starbuck is a lot like Baltar, both chosen by god. Both of them very special and very different from the other characters on the show. Both of them guided by strange circumstances. Though in Baltar's case he had an actual angel guiding him along.
