Mac question: Is Quake 4 okay?

What I mean by OK is that it runs better than the lackluster Doom 3 port or same or worse. I dont wanna drop money on it unless its a half decent port that will run well on my Powerbook 17" Rev. E

Also does it even run under leopard, I guess I could try the demo but half of Mac demo's barely work as it is.
