...Take a look at the new logo.
The two "L"s appear to be shaped like 7's, and it seems every effort has been made to get the "4" to look like a 7 as well.
The original Metal Gear was released for the MSX on July 7, 1987 (07/07/87).
Next year will be home to the date: July 7, 2007, (07/07/07), three straight sevens.
Could this be a hint that MGS4 will be released next July rather than the fall? On the very day of the twentieth anniversary of the series? It's been said that MGS4 will end both Snake's reign as lead and the Solid saga, the character and arc that's made the series the phenomenon that it is today. It seems plausible that they'd want to go out with a bang, they've always had a crazy twist, and numbers are universally known by all fans, so anyone would have a chance to speculate.
Hm?

Can anyone make a list, with evidense, of the games we have seen people actually PLAY for the PS3. The only two which I have seen to be proven as realtime graphics, due to a live demonstration, were UT2007 and Warhawk. I just don't believe anything until I see it played live, at least when it comes to Sony.

Well, it's getting demo'ed tomorrow (today) at TGS. But regardless of whether it's demo'ed or not... this is Hideo Kojima we're talking about, the man's team is known for their technical know-how in consoles. Also, it's Konami... a third party. Not Sony.
Resistance has been demo'ed, it looks fantastic (720p, though they're shooting for 1080p). Virtua Tennis, VF5, Full Auto, Heavenly Sword, and between tomorrow and Sunday, Sony will have apparently 20 games to show off and demo at TGS.

I know Konami is a third party, but you gatta agree that they have used a lot of the same tactics that Sony has in the past, when it comes to showing off graphics. They really like to spruce up the visuals in post production on their videos and screenshots.
Also, any negative thoughts from me in this thread are a byproduct of my opinion on a "MGS4". I just didn't want another game in the series. I wanted the story to stay finished at MGS3. And everything I've seen on the game so far, reeks of desperation. I didn't want to see Snake fight again. I loved how MGS1 ended, and I wanted the character to live a peaceful but short life from then on. Not clinging to his life through drugs like he is here. It kind of defeats the entire message of the first game, which was something I took probably too seriously for my own good. Then when they throw in damn near every single character in the series, I just have little faith that they will be intelligently written into the plot. They just seem like fanservice cameos, appearing for some kind of happy-fun-time reunion here. And let's not pretend that Konami has a perfect track record, regarding plots.
Rant over.

I think the series desperately needs 4. 2 left the series on a sour note, with Raiden and the too-convuluted for most plot, not to mention... with the release of Subsistence and the creation of MGO - it'd be a shame if Kojima let all that hard work and research go to waste on just that game.
I'm sure he's about as tired of the series as any other person who doesn't feel for it, but it does need closure, and MGS2 left more questions than answers.

I forgot to mention that I do not accept MGS2's existence. I just hated that game so much.

I liked it actually, the problem is... the story had too many twists and turns by the 2nd act of the Big Shell chapter. and the addition of Raiden did not help at all.
I think the game would have gone better had the story been far less crazy, even with Raiden. But the incest, the conspiracies and the crazy computer... yeah. No.
