I never bothered getting any of those myself, but I wonder how good they can be? Also I watched some videos of people getting the Pink Tail, after like 20 hours of battles supposedly. Oh man... screw that.

Bahamut is obviously a must though! I consider that and the other summons part of the main game anyways, but damn those underworld caves... damn them! Still the most annoying parts of the game for me.

I hit the 20 hour mark myself on the PSP version even with the battle speed set pretty high and all, so that sounds pretty good to me. I wonder how the SNES easy type compares to the difficulty of the GBA/PSP version though (which was very easy compared to Chronicles)? Zeromus still wiped the floor clean with my first attempt and most of my characters were mid to high 50's, I may have been able to take him out as I kept trying to revive Rydia when she's totally not needed in that fight, and yeah it was just chaos. So once again I power leveled up Cecil to 80, Edge and Kain to 65, and Rosa and Rydia to lower 60's and annihilated him. lol, I found it very easy to grind on the floor where the last save is. The PSP version has a fast forward "auto battle" mode you can enable by hitting select though, so that helped... I probably went from ~60-80 in just 30 minutes or an hour at the most.

Have you played The After Years Ack?

Or rather mages and imps instead of mindflayers and goblins in the NTSC-U release. But yeah, I think that's it too.

Not yet. I may give it a shot later, but I don't currently have any of the necessary equipment to play it, and I'd really like to finish the main game, since I never have before.

As for the game, the SNES version is very easy this time around, but I think part of that is from having built up so much experience playing JRPGs in the 20 years since this game was released. There are so many tropes that I see having been repeated over the years, that it's easy to recognize them now. For instance, the fight with the three girls? Kill the one who revives the others first, and you'll have no issue. CPU? Wipe out Defender, and the CPU goes down easily. The four elemental masters? Hit them with the opposite element(in fact the fight against all four was one of the easiest boss battles I've had).

Hell, even Leviathan was an easy battle. The bosses that gave me the most trouble so far have been Odin(I didn't realize how quickly I had to beat him, got him on the second attempt) and Asura(it took a few minutes of sitting there to realize what I had to do). But neither of those were truly great challenges. I remember this game having been much harder when I was younger.

I think I'll try for those extra summons though, even if they're not particularly useful. I tend to try doing ridiculous stuff like that(I once got all of Gau's rages in FFVI).

Haha, good points across the board there. Yeah it's hilarious how much this stuff has been repeated over the years in JRPG's. Chrono Trigger had a lot of those "attack the healer first" kind of boss fights as well all over.

Even Bahamut isn't that hard at all when you know the strategy for him. However, I'd say maybe the toughest fight for me this time around was Bahamut II, or whatever the one in the final dungeon was called that was guarding Cecil's Ragnarok sword I believe. With that one, I didn't really have time to cast reflect on everyone (and already used up items that did that), so his double Megaflares were devastating. In fact in my second attempt I beat him with Rydia alone at like ~100 HP, she luckily just barely got another Bahamut attack out and it was enough to finish him. Phew!

(I once got all of Gau's rages in FFVI).

That's gross. How about the Blue Magic?

Yeah, done that too. There's one enemy in particular that has nearly all of them in FFVI. He uses the same image as Wrexsoul, but I don't remember off the top of my head where you find him.

I think he's in the final dungeon.

Right now I'm trying to decide what to pick up. I got a little further in Pier Solar while on vacation, and I'm near the end of P3 Portable. With P3 Portable I'm a little too low to be able to kill death and open up Monad. If I can do that then I can easily power grind to the end, since Monad falls pretty hard to Die For Me! and Samsara. I've also got a play started on The Witcher 2 and several other console RPGs. So hard to balance things.

I'm 6 hours into Xenogears...I feel like I should WANT to finish it...but some other RPGs are catching my eye in my backlog. FF6,4,7 and 3. Couple Shin Megatens. I wanna start Oblivion before Skyrim.

I started Shin MegTen Devil Summoner....It costed me an arm and a leg to buy it....worth every penny it would seem.

Xenogears is the final answer. Stick with it!

Guild Wars, thanks Steam sale >_>;

The campaigns are soloable, and you get a lot of options (with all expansions) for NPCs to use, so it's not too far removed from playing a single player game.

Had been playing FFXIII (to finally finish the story, doubt I'll do missions), and Demon's Souls n' the Witcher off n' on. Pretty close on XIII, so I should get back to that for another night or two sometime.

I like it I'm simply so lost on whose who and whats what. My boss at work says he knows me and that it will most likely be my favorite game once the second disc picks up.
