Bought Metro Last Light and I'm finally making my way through 2033.
So, for starters, the game is great. I had no second thoughts about selecting Hardcore Ranger for my initial outing. It's a lot of fun and the game is still absolutely stunning. I'm an hour and a half in. The game seems a bit too scripted to my usual taste but there are plenty of areas to explore off to the side, so it's not dull, at least not yet.
This said, it was a pain in the ass to get working right. You have to edit 3 user files in the Steam version in order to get the fov to an acceptable level, and to set v-sync. Even after this though, there are weird graphical artifacts from the wide fov. What is particularly irritating is nothing I do will get vsync to work, and the game tears like crazy on my system. Luckily in the dark (which there is a lot of) it's not so readily apparent as in well lit areas.
What single player FPS campaign are you playing?

Nice! Hardcore Ranger is an awesome way to play it. It really adds to the overall survival feel of the game.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Bought Metro Last Light and I'm finally making my way through 2033.

Ghost Recon is a heck of an FPS. Lots more strategy than one would expect, as much and even more than the Rainbow Six series! I also like unlocking new characters every mission, because they are Specialists with way more stats than the ones you start out with!

I love playing Ghost Recon. It is my absolute favorite of the Tom Clancy FPS's. Coop on the farm stage was always the best.ExedExes wrote:Ghost Recon is a heck of an FPS. At first I thought I wasn't gonna like it because it takes a lot more thinking, you just can't go out and shoot everything. You have to set up your teams for what is required and to make sure they have the correct equipment. Then you have to call up the command map and find out where you can put the teams and then issue their commands. Surprisingly deep for an FPS. The mission where you have to take out a bridge is a perfect good example of how great this game is. Put a demo expert on each team, clear out the one side together, then plant the first charge, then have snipers and support back up the second team as they cross the bridge and plant the second charge. Of course there's armor all over the place too, but that's what the demo who carries the anti tank weapons does.fastbilly1 wrote:I love playing Ghost Recon. I looked everywhere for a mod to enable first-person weapon view but no joy.ExedExes wrote:Ghost Recon is a heck of an FPS. So I've begun finally playing through Postal 2. I've played it a fair bit before but never actually tried to finish it! But so far, so good. Last night I made it through Monday and am now partway through Tuesday. I have to confess my sins and get Gary Coleman's autograph. Shouldn't be too hard.

I've actually been playing an FPS for a change. Got halfway through Perfect Dark last weekend. I'm at the mission where you have to flee Area 51 with Elvis.
It's pretty fun, although FPS still isn't the genre for me.
