Between Game Stop and little 3rd party stores here like Media Replay and Game on, I wouldn't think twice about stopping at the other two because going to Game Stop and seeing a rack full of old PlayStation 2 games in ugly black blockbuster boxes makes me sad
At least they have a case, think of the original cases and manuals Gamestop themselves destroyed. PS2 games in Yellow Envelopes make me puke.
Good point! so much carnage! Especially to original PlayStation 1 games when I used to go from that far back!

EB wasn't so great with PS1 games either. I remember going to EB in like 2004, and all their games were missing the manuals, and were in generic CD cases. Most of the selection was either sports or lame stuff from 1995 no one (and I really mean no one, not even retro gamers) cares about anymore.

I remember FuncoLand had a good collection of Sega Saturn games and PS1 games, believe me when I bought some Sega Saturn games a while back, they were still encased in FuncoLand sleeves..lmao!
I've said it before and I'll say it again I've never really had a problem with Gamestop. They've always handled any problems I've had quickly and politely and the employees are generally nice to me, at least as nice as any other retail store.
There are things I dislike about them (like putting stickers on case art, grrrr. They don't all do that at least) and it bums me out that they don't carry retro games anymore but it's not their focus so I can respect that.
I do wish there was more competition out there but there's not much I can do about the way capitalism works. To me Gamestop is just a retailer like any other, I'd still prefer to shop there than places like Walmart and I value their used game sales. They may charge a bit too much sometimes but I've also gotten real steals with rare games priced cheaply.

I've never had to go back because a used game didn't work. I did ask them to see if there was another disc once when the employee showed me the one they had pulled out first. I've had some light scuffs on things I've brought home, but nothing terrible.
