Yup, I'm aware of the fact that AV Top Loaders were only available by buying the Top Loader and complaining to Nintendo regarding the poor video quality.
You were probably in the same thread as me a few weeks back. :D

We just had a discussion about this in another thread a few weeks back. I have no idea what thread that is, but it seems to be one of those common knowledge things. The evidence does indeed point towards it being true. I cannot 100% confirm it, though. It is possible that the very last models did have AV out, I guess.

Somebody in my area is selling a Vectrex with 4 games for $80. Should I go for it?

@dunpeal2064

Did you get that Vectrex in New England? I saw an extremely similar (maybe identical?) lot on Craigslist a couple weeks back for only $50! I replied about an hour after it was posted, but it was already sold at that point. I wonder if someone bought it to sell at a mark-up... 50 bucks was a steal, which I had been quicker. :?

The games are:

Scramble
Berzerk
Cosmic Chasm
Star Trek: The Movie
Star Castle

Ran me $280, but I was happy to pay it. The system is in great shape.

One question though... Can I use a 6 button genesis controller in port 2?
You finally got a Vectrex, congrats!
A little pricey, but still worth the drive. The Vectrex is hard to come by, a lucky chance find to get one cheap. Nice that you got the controller and overlays, both are usually even harder to obtain. Does your Vectrex speaker make a buzz noise? Common for the Vectrex, there is a mod to fix that. Because its such a hard to find system, I didn't try this on mine and I have three of them!

Don't take a chance on using a regular Genesis or Atari Joystick, a chance you might fry something. The Vecrex stick is Analog, but you can do a mod. I converted Apple II+ sticks for this, there is also a way to mod Genesis pad with some resistors.

Here is info for various mods: http://www.playvectrex.com/vectech_f.htm

@BoneSnapDeez

I actually picked this up in California. I WISH it had only been $50, that would have been a steal.

YES. I am loving the system so far, and paid more than 3 times that for it.

Heh, yeah, I was happy to find one, even though it was a bit pricey.

The Vectrex does make a slight buzzing noise, but I think its just another quirk that I love about it. I wouldn't risk damage to it in attempt to fix that.

Now, the big question is, does my Mine Storm crash at lvl 13 or not? So far, I've made it to lvl 4.
