I mostly stick with StrategyWiki, RPG Classics, GameFAQs, and good old-fashioned print guides.
I only suggested it because it's good for the (rather current) PC games I'm into as of late. As for my consoles, I'll stick with StrategyWiki & GameFAQS.

Looking back at how many games I completed over the last year, and how many games left in my backlog... it looks like I will be busy for the next decade

Only way to get through it is to play it! Get to it!
In the announcement, Takaaki talks about how most retro-style games made these days are still made to look like pixel art games on the NES and SNES. He, however, grew up playing the original PlayStation and the Sega Saturn, so he wants to honor those systems with his game. - http://www.siliconera.com/2015/04/16/ba ... -ps1-game/
Got to admire the attention to detail with the texture distortion on the cabinet.
Could that era become the next retro-kitsch indie flavor?
Odd because I have a soft spot for both those era's...there was just something amazing about the ps1 era(mainly the 3d platformer genre that seems to all but have been forgotten now), and nes/snes era platformers, rpgs and adventure games just can't be topped many come close. Too bad there's not going a better return to the 2d era of gaming closest we've gotten is the remakes of older disney games and even then it's still not enough...
Edit: though how hard would it be to screen swap a gba sp? I have two gba sp's(next to the red one I just bought) and kinda want to take the black's screen and make the blue a working one since the blue just needed the black's to power up. The only remaining issue is to get the screen lit up and I'll have a spare sp worth using...
My gameroom My systems: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, original gba, gba sp(001), ds lite, 3ds, vita, psp, PSone(101 model) ps2, ps3(320gb model), ps4, retron 5, and Dreamcast.

I am all for returning to PS1-level graphics as a way to convey horror and mystery. It's not that I don't appreciate modern graphics and their capabilities, but intentionally going back to a design that is outdated and visually decrepit, one that is rough, decayed, and almost difficult to look at, as a means to convey suspense, nostalgia, and potential dread seems like a perfect reason to return.
It's also one I associate with the golden age of survival horror, when it was suddenly a hugely popular genre and found itself in a rapidly changing environment as video games struggled to adapt to an entirely new dimension of maneuverability, control, and visual representation. So much was new, and the change could be as scary as the games themselves as the developers struggled to learn how to deal with the new space and the audience struggled to adapt. Yes, let's relive the days of past glories and horrors, where the world was new and beautiful and dreadful. I'm all for it.

From what I've seen, not hard, but getting everything re-assembled might be tricky. I also see that getting the hinges off and re-attaching them is a little difficult. There's videos on Youtube that show it. I'm only interested in it because the SP I have is showing its age as well as the plastic lens ahead of the screen scratched up in a few places. An Ebay seller has a cool idea, a way to swap out all the plastic of the SP using different colored shells.
So basically this is a case mod I'd like to attempt one of these days, because after all I've taken apart my old laptop a few times to replace the screen and its associated parts, and really an SP is no different, but putting it back together seems to be a far more delicate process.

The last time I tried playing a PS1 or N64 game, my eyes jumped out of my skull, and threatened to choke me with my own optic nerves if I didn't turn it off.
I had a lot of fun on both of those systems, but please, don't let games look like that again.
Rock of Ages is the best game i've played in 2015. Outstanding / Unique / Humorous. A bit Monkey Ball, a bit Odama, a bit Command and Conquer = All Fun.

This reminds me of the time I showed my husband some comparisons of composite and component.
Him: So composite is the good one, then. Me: What? No! Look at that component picture! You can see every pixel! And every jaggedy line!! Him: ...and you want that?
Different strokes.
