A lot of manufacturing jobs have gone overseas because of the high costs of doing it here. If we eliminated some of the unnecessary regulations and rules we have, keeping jobs over here would be more attractive.

If it's more economical to have something made for us in China, then shipped across the ocean back to us rather than to make it right here, we're doing something wrong.

Miss America, who is 23, wins a crown, and a $50,000 college scholarship.

The crown makes sense. The scholarship? Not so much.

Conversation with a 4th grader today...

Kid: Hey, what's that book on your desk?
Me: It's about Greek Mythology.
Kid: Oh, those aren't myths. Those gods are real.
Me: Oh yeah...?
Kid: Yeah, if God exists, wouldn't all the Gods have to exist?
Me: Makes sense!

Now turn that around and use Greek Mythology Gods are not real as a starting point...

While I realize what the point is that you are trying to make, I'd rather you get over yourself and accept Zeus into your heart.

Chinese workers earn around 500$ a month without barely any laboral rights, healthcare or job safety. And that's before taxes, which take a huge chunk. A worker here simply can't compete with China, nor should!

Shipping is also negligible to the overall cost. Wikipedia has a quote of 5000$ to move a container from the China to the US. Given they fit more than 25000 Kg of cargo, you probably spend more money moving them around from the distribution centre to the shop than moving them around half of the world.

Like a minimum wage and the ability to form unions? I know that's not what you mean but come on. The problem is profit chasing and nothing to do with the high cost of doing business here. We allow companies to fire thousands of people instead of not giving the CEO a bonus, a bonus larger than was saved by firing those people. Why do profits always have to go up for a company while wages stagnate? Shit why do profits always need to go up? If you got a raise tomorrow and were getting a hundred million a year,.would you complain if they kept it that way the year after or complain that you should get another raise? Why are businesses allowed that and the employees not?

One really fucked up part of this shit, after Obama raised the minimum wage almost every pizza chain froze raises and and added a delivery tax of about 2 bucks. The average pizza hut takes 100 deliveries a night yet only has about 6 hourly employees at the same time, lets say at most they work 5 hours a night, that's 140 profit at every store, 140 for doing nothing since they aren't paying for gas. Yet at the same time we have papa John's doing that and saying that Obamacare is going to make them cut hours for employees.

Fuck it I'm going to Canada or going into a tax free field of work.

I haven't ordered a pizza that did not have a delivery fee in probably a decade. The delivery fee has been standard practice for a long time. Which does make me laugh a little as Pizza Hut has a "ANY PIZZA FOR $10!" promotion where no matter which pizza you order still comes out to $12 before tax and tip. The promotion should be "ANY $10 PIZZA FOR $15!".
