Re: Games Acquired 2017
Last night, I bought Volgarr the Viking for the Wii U and was instantly crowned the most hardcore gamer on earth. I was stripped of the title, however, after dying more than three times before reaching "Rastan's" skeleton...

Re: Games Acquired 2017
I once got to level 2 of Rastan.
Re: Games Acquired 2017
It's good, but it's brutal. There's a whole extra route that most players will never see! It requires nearly perfect play to get there, and is one of the reasons that I haven't dumped much time in. The best description of it is Rastan meets Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts. If either of those games appeal to you, then you need Volgarr in your life.
Re: Games Acquired 2017
YES! Not often I see people getting the Rastan reference. Hell, the enemies look like they are from Rastan.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Last night, I bought Volgarr the Viking for the Wii U and was instantly crowned the most hardcore gamer on earth. Re: Games Acquired 2017
I mean, the opening is the exact same layout as Rastan. I guess folks just don't remember that game anymore. I thought it was one of the coolest (and creepiest) games ever when I played it in the arcade. That beating heart when your health is low, the eerie music... man, it's another game that had some crazy atmosphere.

Re: Games Acquired 2017
I just spent more on retro games than I have in a long, long time. I dropped a little over $250.
One of the local retro game stores (and by local I mean an hour away) is transitioning to repairs only, and selling all their stock. I wish I'd gotten there sooner, a guy was in and bought over $4000 worth of stuff to resell. And by "$4000", I mean it was actually worth more than that, since everything was between 50-75% off.
So here's my haul for all that cash I spent. There were a lot of impulse buys in there. Sadly, two things didn't work, which I'll get to. Not sure if I'll try to return, or fix.
Game Boy:
Super Mario Land
Bart Simpson's Escape From Camp Deadly
Killer Instinct
Muhammad Ali Heavyweight Boxing
Mario Tennis

I also hit the other retro store, and snagged boxed Game Gear copies of Deep Duck Trouble, The Lion King, and Aladdin for $8. And the local Dirt Cheap had Tropical Freeze for Wii U for $8 as well, so I bit.

Re: Games Acquired 2017
I picked up a Mob Psycho 100 3DS theme from the Japanese theme shop the other day, and it got me thinking about other stuff I wanted on the Japanese eShop.
So today I picked up Great Detective Pikachu on it! That'll be my next hit once I'm finished with Youkai Watch 3, methinks

Re: Games Acquired 2017
Recently I picked up a copy of Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth for the Vita.
Can't wait to get started on it because the prequel, Mask of Decption, ends on a cliff hanger. Plus Mask of Deception was super good and I've heard that Mask of Truth is even better
