Switch Discussion Thread
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I don't have much good to say about the Gamecube in general, but man... Super Monkey Ball ruled. Another one Sega doesn't care about anymore I guess?
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
It's weird how perceptions and opinions of Luigi's Mansion have shifted over the years. I also remember it getting shat on for being too short, a tech demo and not being a Mario game. It got 7/10s mostly by critics and gamers ripped it to shreds. It was also a 'bargain bin' type game after a couple of months and stayed that way until the GameCube died. Over the last few years though, the price has gone up and up and it's looked back on as being a great game.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Sega still publishes Super Monkey Ball games fairly often, there have been a lot of games released in the series since the ol' GameCube days. The most recent physical release was the 2012 Vita game: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mon ... ana_SplitzXeogred wrote:I don't have much good to say about the Gamecube in general, but man... PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Looks like there was a Super Monkey Ball on iOS but Sega pulled it?
I want my console sequel! I remember the XBLA had a game that was basically the same thing. I'd eat this stuff up, but outside of that game and the two Super Monkey Ball games, that's all I know of (for new fully 3D based ones).
Back on the Switch, some Giant Bomb talk on it, forget if anyone else here were into GB:

To be fair I think the last 2 best loaded launches was the Dreamcast in 99 and the Gamecube in 01. Yes I get the Luigi's Mansion argument but I dismissed it 15 years ago and I still do now as irrelevant as it's well made and lots of fun to play and replay. Throw in Star Wars, Monkey Ball, Wave Race and the other gems out befoer the end of the year and it was plenty reason to care.
Dreamcast though by sheer quality and numbers really blew it out with all those arcade conversions, Sonic Adventure and the rest. Sega knew what they were doing that day that's for certain.
That said, on the side, GBA had an insane launch list of games some probably could argue topped both. Mario, Castlevania, THPS2, Rayman, Iridion, Super Dodgeball, and quite a few others with much variety and most the games rated in that 7-10 range too that did.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
It occurs to me that the GBA never had a unique, traditional Mario title. Only ports/remakes.

Are they PSP case sized or something? Looks ugly to me. lolfastbilly1 wrote:Switch boxes remind me of Ngage boxes:
