Oh hell yeah. Thunder Force V is amazing. I need to get ahold of 6 for the PS2, looks gorgeous.

So, I admittedly am a novice when it comes to Cave but will say the game merchanics were entertaining enough for me to look forward to getting in another couple runs the next day with what I had learned.xan_racketBOY_fan wrote:How are you liking it so far? I've yet to open mine (playing other shooters right now) and was wondering what you're impressions are - graphics, soundtrack and playability.retrosportsgamer wrote:I've finally got the hang of Akai Katana. What was throwing me off was the tutorials talk of switching from "offense" to "defense" and having to hold down the shoot button for the offense. Once I figured this all out, I finished a run through Novice and then had a 17MM score on stage 3 or something in the regular game. I just die a lot.
I'm hoping guys (or girls) here start posting strategy so I can try to emulate their work.

Yes! That game does not get enough love, its so good!WrathOskvro wrote: Going to be playing some Last Hope: Pink Bullets today too
Yesterday I had a bit of free time, and played some under Defeat on the DC, and some Raiden II on the cab.
Finally made it to the stage 3 boss in Raiden II, after playing it for quite some time. This game is freakin hard.
I think tonight I may go for some Last Hope: Pink Bullets as well.

Mushihimesama 1.5

already made it to stage 5 mid-boss! & my deaths were all stupid mistakes with full bomb stock
1cc within reach!
wicked cool. very fun.

Re: What shmup are you playing now?
great choice Ellert! You are pretty dang close to that 1cc.
Do you know about the extend in stage 5? Comes in after the midboss, you have to blow up a roof without destroying it with a bomb.
I would slap someone if they spent over $2000 on that PCB though
$500 is more ballpark, but you still saved a good chunk of change.
Last night I played some Gynoug/Wings of Wor, some Hellfire, and some Eliminate Down.
Gynoug is a little drawn out for me. I love the boss art, but the bosses die in like 2 hits, and the stages are a tad too long. Defnitely only an occasional play for me.
Hellfire is awesome Toaplan goodness. Their first attempt at a hori I believe, and Ikeda (Now of Cave) is not very proud of it, but I think its awesome.
Eliminate Down reminds me a lot of Hellfire (and TF) with switching weapons on the fly, but the atmosphere is fantastic. Not sure how I like the difficulty on this one yet, as I only had time for one run, but it has potential. Glad I didn't drop $300 on it though.

Deathsmiles. Still with 360 pad as my Hori stick hasn't yet arrived. But I will say this. Deathsmiles alone has justified my purchasing a 360.
<-- dead fucking serious.

That [deathsmiles] was the only reason I even bought a 360 to begin with. I did also end up getting child of eden, but I've only played it a couple times. My 360 mainly was just collecting dust till I got one of these http://etokki.com/Xtokki360noiseredux wrote:Deathsmiles. Still with 360 pad as my Hori stick hasn't yet arrived. But I will say this. I already had a bajillion arcade sticks for my other systems, and I really couldn't justify building or buying another one. That adapter works perfectly.
I still need to get espgaluda II (the first espgaluda is one of my all-time favorite shmups) and I'm considering akai katana too, even though i suck at horizontal shmups.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.
