I don't agree. First off the Vita has only been released for 3 years in the west, not 4. It would be interesting to compare the western install base of the PSP after three years, versus the current install base of the Vita in the same region. I believe you would find the PSP at that point had a larger install base domestically, that justified the production of system selling games available to the west. Further still, I think you'd find those PSPs were bought for purposes that the Vita isn't; piracy & a portable media machine. (Piracy isn't a thing yet for the Vita and we all have smartphones and tablets for portable media these days.)

The Vita is a lame duck, unless you live in Japan. I hate to admit that myself because I love the system. The chances of us suddenly getting killer apps that will revive the platform in the west are next to none. If you enjoy expensive niche Japanese imports it's good for that I guess.

Speaking of Vita, I just saw a video of someone defeating the first Bloodborne boss on remote play. I wouldn't have been so amazed if it hadn't been for the fact that he did it across the ocean, with a pretty low end internet connection. I never considered getting a Vita before, but if remote play works that well, I might be sold.

People have also beaten Dark Souls with the Guitar Hero controller. So remote play might still not work very well.

I read that today. It's no easy task, what with getting the publishers on board with this idea, but it just continues to make GOG the real destination for DRM-free goodness.

That's really cool. I hope they expand it further.

Well, that is true, but watching the video, while there was more than likely input lag, how well the game actually ran was amazing to me. I was expecting tons of stutter and ghosting, but there wasn't all that much.

This is why you develop for PC first, then port.

(I believe they applied that lesson to XIV though)

Why is it that people flipped their lid about Tomb Raider exclusivity with Microsoft Studios publishing and no one seemed to bat an eye when Bloodborne/Sony did the same thing?

History with the pairup, given that Demon's Souls was also a SCE published exclusive?

That and From Software likely just doesn't have the relationship with Microsoft that they do with Sony. The vast majority of games they have put out have been for PlayStation. Bloodborne was their first real release of this generation. It makes sense that they would go with a company they are used to working with.

On the other hand, Square Enix has a history of working with all three developers, as does Crystal Dynamics. Their last Tomb Raider game was released on both Microsoft and Sony consoles for last gen, and their enhanced remake was released on both current generation Microsoft and Sony consoles at the same time. It seems a weird reversal for the series to suddenly only go with Microsoft in mind.
