Yeah, I consistently forget communism is economic, not political.

And then there's communism the theory and "communism" the implementation during the Cold War.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Yeah, I consistently forget communism is economic, not political.

Oh, don't start, it probably won't stick.
Politics are to hard to talk about for me in most cases when it comes to what is what and why, because they name everything so weirdly and most people use the terms incorrectly. And so, I use them incorrectly and look stupid.

And then there's capitalism the theory with the fair playing field, and "capitalism" the implementation where "we" reward market distortion.MrPopo wrote: And then there's communism the theory and "communism" the implementation during the Cold War.

I know "fascism" is the most meaningless word in the universe but I don't think Cuba is fascist just because it's a dictatorship. If it were, what dictatorship isn't fascist?Jmustang1968 wrote:Fascist can be left. Cuba would be an example.
I don't think there's really a need to use labels just dicuss topic by topic. Chances are your views won't fit into a nice box and using a label will just open yoursef to being criticized as a category traitor when you don't agree with the group.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Politics are to hard to talk about for me in most cases when it comes to what is what and why, because they name everything so weirdly and most people use the terms incorrectly. Aren't the Cubans socialists?Jmustang1968 wrote:Fascist can be left. Cuba would be an example.Ack wrote:National Socialist, meaning fascist, which is considered far right.Jmustang1968 wrote:So you are considering socialist parties as being far right?
@ZeroAX
Ya, Golden Dawn is probably the scariest of all them. Although, Geert Wilders and the Party for "Freedom" come close.

Re: Orange Order
I don't think they've divided that which was already divided by the time of their formation in 1795. But they have contributed to the continuation of that division, primarily in North Ireland.Adam wrote:You don't have to be elected in government to be able to strongly influence a society and sway political opinion.
These morons has divided some parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
They do have the capability to do so though, and they have had some important effects and influence around the world, particularly in Canada, though as far as I know their influence has waned there in the last 50 years. The Orange Order has died out in New Zealand, hasn't had much importance in the US in about 150 years, and has little influence in Australia. Most of the African branches have died out, save for Ghana(though they care little for the politics and are more interested in the fraternity and social welfare aspects).Sload Soap wrote:Not a political threat though.Adam wrote:The Orange Order is another large group that is dangerous to Europe. Publicly the Orange Order have denounced organizations like the Ulster Volunteer Force and Ulster Defence Association along with the use of terrorist tactics, though some of their members have donated to such organizations in the past. Members have also been found with relations to groups like the Orange Volunteers and Real Ulster Freedom Fighters, though they are generally expelled when these links become publicized. They're virulently anti-Catholic and exceptionally pro-Unionist, and violence has resulted from their marches in Catholic neighborhoods. They also have connections to the Conservative Party.
Funny enough, the notable offshoots of the Orange Order tend to be more tolerant.
