And it stars almost Shia LaBeouf.

It's like the Lethal Weapon 3 of the series.

This scene is awesome.

Does Justin Long say "No no no no no no no!" alot? Can't remember.

Die Hard 4 is almost like the Die Hard 3 of the series... ;) Fish-out-of-water sidekick uses his street smarts(3)/hacker smarts(4) to save the day.

Kevin Smith: So, um erm Bruce...Can I have a cameo with you in a movie that isn't, you know...kind of bad?

Willis: Bruno does what Bruno wants. Want to be a fat computer geek?

KS: I can put on a few pounds.

What's funny about this new Conan film is that this film was already made. Kull the Conqueror was supposed to be the proper sequel to Conan: the Destroyer (Conan the Conqueror) that "King" Conan hinted to at the end of the film. However Arnold did not want to return to the Conan character when approached, so they gave the role to Kevin Sorbo and changed the character to Kull.

CLOUD ATLAS is a gorgeous mess. If you plan on seeing this film, use the potty before hand and pack a lunch. Or dinner. Plus an extra snack. It's long.

At times it's pretty great, but if I listed every movie of 2012 this would be smack dab in the middle. The main problem is that it isn't coherent. You jump from genres and generations with no real purpose; it's all over the place. The easiest way to put it is to give an example: It's a movie where one second you are watching a sci-fi thriller in the future and then all of a sudden you are watching a movie about a couple escaping a nursing home.

Hanks, as the movie itself, is also all over the place. I'm talking Nic Cage all over the place. Expect ludicrously to ensue when Hanks is on screen.

CLOUD ATLAS seems more like a "project" than a "film" if that makes any sense. I don't think it is polarizing, it just exists. I expect to see a bunch of one word reviews such as "Magnificent" and "Brilliant" that don't explain why the movie is "Magnificent" or "Brilliant". That's fitting because that's what the movie is, it's gorgeous but hell if I know why.

It came out recently onto DVD and Netflix.

It's rather short, but well worth every second. It's been compared to REPO! The Genetic Opera, though it's very far from REPO!, aside from the involvement of select REPO! alumni (director Darren Lynn Bousman, writer/actor Terrance Zdunich, and REPO! cast members Alexa Vega, Nivek Ogre and Bill Moseley).

This and a few other Full Moon films were part of an 8-film collection, the likes of which appears in numerous budget-priced DVD sets), which regularly sell in bargain bins and at my local Food Lion (where I scored big-time when they started putting 2 sets in $4.99 2-packs, at least in some cases).

The movie succeeds as an indie stoner comedy, but any horror elements are overshadowed by it's campy nature, stoner humor and cheap effects, the latter of which are granted amnesty by virtue of being made by Full Moon Studios. Shut up, it's a real thing.

And on one of the other cheapo sets I have, I even have the sequel, as well as the sequel to one of the other FM movies on the disc (Demonic Toys).

Other than a slight similarity with the "same persons in time" angle, yeah, not very similair. With The Fountain, Hugh Jackman's character always seemed to be driving towards a similar rescue/win Rachel Weisz and enlightenment across all segments. With Cloud Atlas there were a bunch of stories of self improvement, redemption, and freedom, but they were less connected IMHO. Some of the makeup to change people's nationalities and appearances was laughable but some of the rest was great and overall the film was very nice looking. It was certainly interesting but I'm not sure how much I liked it, if that makes sense. I'm not sure if I want to see it again at some point, or if once was enough.

over the weekend I saw the latest Silent Hill movie.

I've been (am) lazy and I dont really go to theaters [the $8 plus dollars hurts this OP's cheapass]. But some friends wanted to go and I said 'why not?'

The movie was quite okay. I have seen and enjoyed the first one.

There were some frightful scenes and enough to keep you interested. Some storyline/plot was obvious. But you know that since you've played some of the games. While there are some scenes that you can nitpick and some that dont make much sense.

If you are familiar with the series, then this movie makes more sense.

A specific scene and line from this movie helped save itself. Not that its something bad. But it being said helps connect both movies together, and possibly other sequels (if they choose so)

My buddy is a big Silent Hill fan and he picked up more hidden meanings and metaphors than I did.

We kinda noticed (but mostly him) that the movie's universe and the games universe still have some differences. But the plot and rules set up by the first movie are still followed in the second.

He said that the movie may haved fixed some plot holes left behind from the games. Or at least more understandable.

my friend also stated that there is quite the difference in the videogames that are more psychological and the movie that has to make some changes to be more akin to the horror movie genre.

I personally haven't read the critic reviews yet. But this movie can have a different rating if you are a gamer or not.

There are some subtle things you can pick up from this movie, Or this may just be a forgettable fall horror flick for you.
