I don't see how can be confusing, early access is just a pay to play beta or like others say you pay to get the game in it's current state (finished or not). Minecraft has been officially released with the ender dragon and the end update was to point that the creator wanted to reach in terms of the content that the game provides, everything else after that is just nice extras.

I'll be honest, I don't follow Minecraft. My understanding had been that the game is still technically in beta or whatever.

Part of the confusion for me comes from the fact that some sites will list Early Access games with a release date of when the Early Access went live. Others will list the finished product. So there's some confusion created.

What got me thinking about this was Grimdawn though. That game has been in early access since 2012. It has had "Acts" added to it every year since. So three years later, it's still in early access and still has people playing it. When it finally is finished, most of us would consider it a 2015 (or 2016 or whenever) game, but I suppose those that have been playing it since 2012 might consider it a 2012 game.

Personally I would consider the finished product to be the release date.

I think what I'm saying is confusing is sometimes finding an accurate release date for PC games.

So whats going to happen to the significant digital game libraries people bought from PSN over the last 7 years ? Do they run on PS4? Or is it going to die once the PS3 cease manufacturing?

Klax is really great, it's amazing how much there is to think about in that game.

Your read my article noise? I demoed Grim Dawn. Have it on Steam already but I typically wait to play games until they are final. I really enjoyed it though.

Really I think they reserve the right to terminate your access to the stuff at any time so it all goes down the drain eventually. I mean their are Xbox/PS2 games that are no longer playable due to the servers being shutdown. Since online has become such a large part of the console experience over the past years I doubt we will see the services go down any time soon. They will most likely put a notice up at least a year or two before dropping PSN/Live support from the PS3/360 and I couldn't see them doing that for at least 2-3 years into the new generation.

Eventually there will be games that just aren't playable anymore though which sucks. For instance Phantasy Star Online: Episode I & II for the Xbox while playable without Live requires a Live user account to launch which is impossible to make now since the service no longer exists. Basically you have to track down somebody who has an Xbox account and copy it onto a memory card or else mod your system to play it now days which is why it's basically worthless now. Was so disappointed when I tried to play it a few years back :P.

First 4 Figures is making a NiGHTS figure. My love for the Saturn game and the character in general runs deep; I preordered the fancy-pants version!

I'm currently listening to my "Perfect Album" soundtrack of the first game and am swept up in feelings of nostalgia.

...I've never even played Journey of Dreams! I feel like I should buy a copy since I have so much other NiGHTS stuff. Aside from the soundtrack to the original game I have the soundtrack to JoD, the Tiger handheld game, all the Archie comics, the "Papetch" figure, copies of the first game for Saturn, PS2 (with the storybook!), and Xbox 360, Christmas NiGHTS, a weird Japanese VHS tape, and the ultra-limited CD version of the Overclocked Remix album.
I REALLY LOVE THAT FLYING PURPLE JESTER, OKAY.

Oh that part... yeah that makes it confusing. The release date should be the day the final version comes out... not the beta/early access/demo.

Anyone know whats up with Mewgenics? Haven't heard anything about it in a long time. Googled around but everything looks abandoned and the closest thing I could find to news was some people saying it was officially put on hold.

Never mind found the articles about the indefinite hold. Damn I was looking forward to it after the Game Informer article a year or two back. Think they brought it up again recently as well :P.
