What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I need to go see it as I've always wanted to go see a Miyazaki film on the big screen.

Absolutely an incredible experience, the animation, designs, settings, dialog and progression were all top notch. Plus I got to see more of Gainax's pre-EVA works and finally recognised some of the nods made towards Gunbuster all through the series.

A big thanks to DrCirno, for letting me borrow his Blu-Ray (High-Def, Woot!) copy of it thanks a ton buddy!

As for tomorrow I'll be damn sure to watch Diebuster and post up what I think about it!
Just saw Diebuster and it was amazing!

It ties up all of the loose ends from Gunbuster and was one of the coolest anime movies I've ever seen. Plus it incorporates a lot of subtle nods to FLCL (The Federation, Vespas etc...) that were a pretty nice bump to the fans from Gainax.
Wow, I'll definitely have to give them a look then. Thanks for the heads up.

It is why I went. I had a chance to see Mononoke, but with only a name I didnt think it sounded interesting - one of the stupidest moves I have ever made.

Spirited Away I opted not to see, mainly since the only theater showing it was charging $15 a head. And for some reason we did not get Howl down here. I would suggest hurrying, Miyazaki hinted this might be his last film, and it wont be in theaters long.

Do it. This was my first time seeing one of his films in theatres and it was a great experience.

Yeah, it's fantastic, plus they made a few huge nods to EVA fans as well such as absolute borderline markers & the 'sync on' sound effect before one of the battles, and a huge 'Dirac Sea' moment.

He said that for the next few years he is going to be less hands on with the films in all aspects. Though he will have his hand in all of the Ghibili films. He wants his son to take over, but I saw Earthsea, he needs work... Never the less he will always be one of the greatest animators of all time and most of his films will always have a place in my collection.

I really wanted to get Diebuster the Movie on Blu-Ray, but found out it was nothing more than the OVA series hacked into nonsensical pieces. Too bad.

Ponyo is high on my list of must-sees... unfortunately, no theaters around here carry it.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) is simply brilliant! Romero's films critiqued consumerism and Kaufman's masterpiece critiqued blatant conformity.

Actually it was put together brilliantly and doesn't fell condensed or rushed at all. Both OVA's were originally designed to be compressed into a film at a later date and the films both take this into account and work around the time limitations brilliantly to leave you pretty amazed and completely satisfied with all of the loose ends tied up at the end.
