Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Re: Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
I saw a package of Goo Begone at a store today and thought, Gamestop should sell that.

I seriously dread the day when gaming is 100% download DRM rental bullshit. However, I will be very happy to see Gamestop go out of business when that happens.
Or maybe Gamestop will go retro then?

I read recently that GameStop will start selling iOS devices. See this article for details:

O hell yea I dread DLC for any purpose however I do love the indie games on xbla. But as to my earlier comment Im just under the assumption of what the nex-gen/future of this media will become.I also assumed the microsoft comment
just cause I feel they currently lead the market and do revolutionize current gen gaming.Im not trying to sound like a fanboy of theirs but alot of my funds went towards their products.
Things just evolve Downloading/streaming anything today is of the norm.It also seams Eco friendly and cuts cost, and is convient for companys/consumers.I doubt GS will go retro considering no one will trade their classics for pennies. The retro market is poppin online as the items are older, harder to get and spread throught out the states and countries.
Plus I heard they started or going to carry Ipods and stuff
I myself have done some purchasing at GS before and honestly 80% if not better their products are in poor condition..Missing covers, mess of a refurbishings crap I even picked out a game with mint box and manual and get a greatest hits rubbed up against a wall scratched disc??
I dont know I just think its more about money then customers bottom line.Thats what I dont like gotta care about ppl sometimes.

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I don't get it. It's like Gamestop wants to go out of business, and they are trying to speed up the process. Why would they sell devices that only have download games?

Because people are going to be buying the devices regardless. So Gamestop is just trying to get a cut of the initial sale.

Because they'll also probably sell iTunes gift cards and the like. They're also working on having their own direct download/game streaming service. If they're going to try and be like OnLive and push for an iOS client to play streaming games from, they could sell someone an iPad and then access codes for PC games to play via the service.
Also because they'll probably get a ton of kids trading in a thousand bucks worth of games for $300 off an iPad.
AFAIK they've had success with in-store purchases of DLC codes as well. Some people don't have credit cards and need to be able to buy game cards/etc for cash.

The 360 indie games are great, but I will always prefer physical releases. I would much prefer these games be released on PC with physical copies available much like doujin games.

So how much store credit you think my iPhone will get?

How would I know? Probably a ton less than it's worth.

Apparently Gamestop is bringing out their own Android tablet, which is a further reason that they want to trade in iOS devices.
