Well, the Best Buys in Maine seem to be pretty good. Lots of great new games for $19.99 and $14.99, lots of decent used games for $7.99 and $4.99.
Plus, they tend to keep things in stock for a long time. Last time I went to the Maine Mall Best Buy, they still had copies of Morrowind for the PC.

My BB's the same way. Until a few months ago, I could still get Call of Duty 2 for PC there, in the original paper box. They were the last store in town to still have a good oXbox selection, besides K-Mart (but K-Mart only had a good selection because they were unsold. No one shops at K-Mart.)

NES - 5 Controller 6 Games - $30.00 + $15.00 CraigsListBlah Ha Ha Ha Ha! I couldn't pass this up. Met with the seller at a Starbucks and brought along my portable 5" LCD for testing. The NES RF switch was damaged, but I would rather use Composite anyways. The power supply was the wrong one with a fatter plug, it is for a SNES console.
The Power Adaptor specifications:
Nintendo Brand - Output DC10v 850ma
Bad contact connectorLuckily I brought along my NES power adaptor to test the console. The NES had the dreaded flashing light which indicated to me bad contacts and more importantly that the 10NES Chip was not disabled by a possible poor mod job.
The seller brought other games and extra controllers, I guess hoping to have an add on sale.Always good to test
Starbucks is an ideal location for meeting in a safe public place and verifying electronic purchases. There are plenty of power outlets to plug in. Bringing my LCD, video cables and a NES power adaptor along paid off in proving the NES was defective. Since the NES would not boot any game, I offered $30.00 for everything. The seller agreed, thinking the NES was broken. After I got home I swapped out the internal connector and case top with a dead spare NES, now works beautiful!
$15.00 more for the sell
The seller was maybe 16-17 years old. She brought along her brother who was maybe 15? Damn, I would have thought at that age they would be keen on the going rate of a NES and various games on EBay and Craigslist. Even the local Retro store sells just the NES console for $49.00. Even more crazy was the ad was posted almost a week ago and was still available. When I saw all three Mario game carts in my blind excitement I gave the seller two twenties and one five. I meant to give two fives and a twenty. Oh well, I'm still happy with the purchase and don't feel so guilty about stealing from the kids.

Great find on that NES. The controllers are in such great condition, it almost looks like a stock photo!
I'm meeting a guy from craigslist today. First time I've ever done this so I am a bit nervous. I'm getting a Commodore 64 and games, I'll report back with details.

Thanks! One of the controllers has a brown tone, the other four are clean. I know SNES consoles and my beige portable fan has the Fire Retard plastic, not sure if ALL NES components have the same "biodegradable" fragile plastic.
What was wrong with the industry in making Fire Retardant Plastic? An electrical device is more unsafe with the fragile crumbly plastic.

BoneSnapDeez - Good luck on the C64, Starbucks is a safe place and has outlet plugs.

I wish I had thought of meeting at a place where I can test it... I'm meeting the guy at his workplace. I have his email, phone number, and know where he works now so I'll be able to track him down if anything doesn't work correctly.

Stopped at the thrift store today and got a silver Gamecube+power supply + instructions for $3.98.
I actually got another gamecube from this store about 6 months ago for $3. It was in terrible condition (purple with a beat up case and butterfly stickers on it). It sat around my house for a while until, by a stroke of luck, I found a GC cable set (power+av+various others) for $3 at the same store. I finally got to test the one I bought and it worked fine, despite the cosmetic flaws.
But anyway, this new one works great, so now I have two working gamecubes but not a single controller or game for them.

Ebay..

Shelf wear to boxs, otherwise mint.
Cost £5.50 collected.
The seller also had some more items, as I had no more cash on me I returned the next day to pick up..

Really happy with the Time Crisis boxset.
G-con2 requires repair to the yellow AV plug
Discs in perfect condition.
Cost £14.
Also eagerly waiting for a mission stick to arrive through the post, some thing that I don't already own and is for the Dreamcast

Welcome to the club. Take good care of the monitors, those 18 inch 3:2 sanyos are not easily found nowadays. Ironically you can fit a 19inch widescreen LCD in the same space if yours fry like mine did - I want to say it is the last time I buy an arcade game from a barn, but I know it wont be.
