The "original mode" of Super Hang-On, played on a Super Hang-On "bike" would be something I'd drop thousands of dollars on.

Super Thunder Blade, Space Harrier, Cruisin' are all terrific. But there has always been something, which I can't pinpoint, about getting on a fake plastic motorcycle and going nuts.

And I grew up in a time where malls were packed and people would pay twenty bucks at the time to get into what was basically a minivan with hydraulics and was marketed as a "Space Simulator" and people ate it up. But Super Hang-On really made you feel like you were in control of a motorcycle you couldn't afford and couldn't legally drive.

Something about the original mode is also rpg-ish. Upgrades, repairs, challenges...I have dozens of motorcycle games, and the music in Road Rash is so so great, but I can't say I've played a better motor cycle game than Super Hang-On (and the game is olllllld).

Any suggestions for a great motorcycle game are welcome and appreciated.

That depends on what game you're playing.

Full Throttle is the best motorcycle game.

One of the best things about DOOM is that it's designed in a way that when you shoot while moving forward, it's like your momentum adds extra power to the bullet, shagohad-style.

The difference between Vulkan and something like Mantle, is that Mantle is manufacturer-specific (AMD). AMD may put some effort into making sure competing hardware can run Mantle code, but they'd never take that task seriously. Stuff like Mantle is about a hardware company trying to push folks onto their hardware but offering "better performance" through their own proprietary API for handling low-level performance.
So when should we see the new Vulkan in effect?

and AMD must be crazy if they think game developers will exclusively code for AMD GPU.

The PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U all use AMD GPUs. AMD represents a tremendous portion of the PC GPU market as well. It's not as crazy an idea as one might think.

AMD brought Mantle to market first, and supposedly it's part of the basis for Vulkan.

Practically speaking, they don't expect Mantle to be used directly and suggested developers use DX12 or what is now known as Vulkan.

We should be seeing them used to some degree this year, I think, even if just in a few cases to show the benefits. There are already DX12 benchmarks for it popping up.

Yes I missed this that they will use the consoles combined with their PC market for this. I thought it was going to work on AMD PC's only.
