I remember once having an N64 gameshark when I was younger. All I did with it was use it to do stuff like access weird, glitchy stuff.

But yeah, I know enough not to use an NES one (I doubt it would work on my finicky toaster anyway). The Saturn GameShark sucks too (due to thickness), from what I recall.
Saturn Gameshark is arguably far more destructive than the NES's Game Genie. Both have a similar problem (thicker PCB than normal carts), but the Saturn's cart slot is really cheap and finnicky and much easier to break. Plus unlike the NES there's no easy way to replace the Saturn slot if you ruin it.
For sure. Everytime I pull out the GameShark on my Saturn it feels like the connector part in the Saturn will snap any second.

Now we just need to know if you're using it as a passthrough to play imports or if you're being a cheat. :P
I use mine for both. Why not? But at this point, I hardly ever use the cheats. That was something I did more when I was younger.

No reason to ever use a Saturn gameshark, period. The Pro Action Replay can do all of the cheat stuff that the Gameshark can do, and it won't wreck the cart slot.

I have a great reason to: I have a GameShark, I don't have an Action Replay.

If I had a Saturn Gameshark I'd get rid of it and buy a Pro Action Replay anyway.

Why on earth would you want to intentionally use something that you KNOW is going to damage your hardware like that, especially when there's an alternative that won't do that?

^I'm glad I saw this. I was just going to make a thread on this very problem.

The N64 Gameshark was pretty amazing since you could mess around with HEX editing or something and make your own codes, too bad you could never save any of them though I'm pretty sure. I remember being able to make infinite health and ammo for Goldeneye once.

When I was 16 my younger brother spilled a tall glass of orange juice all over my NES. The console was already "dying" at this point (wouldn't load games, constant pink/blinking screen - I didn't know anything about pin connectors) so decided to be done with it. In classic hoarder fashion, I tossed the system in the basement instead of actually throwing it away.

A couple of days ago I decided to test it out just for kicks. It didn't work (of course), so I opened it up, gave it a thorough cleaning, and bent the pins back into place. Tried to fire up a game - worked on the first try!
