I haven't watched a Lynch film yet that was coherent enough to make me care to connect the dots or whatever the hell he's driving at. The moment the prisoner was switched it was a free-for-all malarkey and none of it mattered. I get it, the highway is the connecting theme but the film is fragmented and tasteless.
David Lynch is taking the piss. At least I enjoyed Twin Peaks before the cop-out ending.
What was the last movie you've seen?

Lost Highway is his weakest film in my opinion. Mulholland Drive is his best. If you are looking for something more traditional, however, try Blue Velvet or the Elephant Man.Pulsar_t wrote:I haven't watched a Lynch film yet that was coherent enough to make me care to connect the dots or whatever the hell he's driving at. What about Eraserhead? Or is that one grotesque for the sake of it?

I haven't seen it yet, unfortunately; so I cannot comment on it. (I have only seen about half of his feature films...In addition to Eraserhead, I am still missing Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me; The Straight Story; and Inland Empire.) I am sure some other members can write more informatively about it than me, however.Pulsar_t wrote:What about Eraserhead? Or is that one grotesque for the sake of it?

Thanks. I will have to look up the phrase that the 2nd guard uttered in reverse before admitting Fred Madison into his cell.

Just watched Loopers - awesome! Trying to think of a hole in the plot but can't come up with one. Possibly the smartest time-travel movie ever?

There are plenty of plot holes. Plenty.
Good thing is they are easy to over look.

I feel as if plot holes are almost mandatory for anything involving time travel.
I'll be pretty shocked if there's a single work of time travel fiction that doesn't have any plotholes.

I have not seen Looper yet. (I have heard that it is very good, however, and I am looking forward to it.) It would, however, have to go a long way to be as intelligent as "Primer":xan_racketBOY_fan wrote:Just watched Loopers - awesome! Trying to think of a hole in the plot but can't come up with one. If you enjoy thinking over the possibilities - and paradoxes - that would be created by time travel, then I highly recommend that movie.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
My main thing with plot holes boils down not just to the plot but rather "what type of movie is this movie trying to be, and would any person with a brain act this way/make this decision"...common sense issues.AppleQueso wrote:I feel as if plot holes are almost mandatory for anything involving time travel.

Dumb & Dumber can have all the plot holes in the world (which it does) but who cares? It's a comedy called Dumb & Dumber. LOOPER is an action movie sprinkled with sci-fi. It isn't the brain buster you think it would be, in fact it is quite linear and self explanatory. Sure, you can confuse yourself if you want to, but the movie is quite straightforward.
But when a movie tries to be smart and isn't, that is when I get perturbed. Obviously that's my beef with TDKR and Prometheus.
Just did some shopping on Amazon that didn't go as planned. Nabbed THE LOST BOYS on Blu Ray, didn't nab FRIGHT NIGHT (1985) as it is going for over $200usd. Big bummer.
