Re: Games Acquired 2016
Everyone is getting cool games (especially Bone...who daringly picked up both of the ZX Spectrum games available on XBLA).
I picked up a copy of Mighty No. 9 from Target this morning. It was double-clearance to $14.98, and I couldn't resist it at that price (less than the four-pack of t-shirts and way less than the protein shake mix I also needed to pick up this morning). I also plan on splurging on Axiom Verge - which just received an Nintendo eShop release - later tonight. (As my 31 hours with Aeternoblade demonstrated, "metroidvania" games are apparently my favorite genre.)

I think you'd find it rather satiating.

Well, it was you who tipped me off about the Speccy games. And damn is that sound brutal.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Everyone is getting cool games (especially Bone...who daringly picked up both of the ZX Spectrum games available on XBLA).

I got Mighty No. 9 for the same price, same store. Missed out on $30 Hyrule Warriors though.

Bone isn't the only one excited about those ZX Spectrum games. I've been wanting to try out Jet Set Willy since I heard Guru Larry talk about it absolutely years ago in a video. Importing something like that is just such an awful task though Xp
I also share the opinion that La-Mulana is awesome and you should play the Wii-ware port. The original game is a bit too cryptic at times, and the remake makes it distinctly more user friendly. Though, like with Cave Story, I can't really give an unbiased opinion on just how user friendly it is, as I watched a full playthrough of the original several times way before the remake came out, so I was more well versed with the more meanly hidden elements. I don't think La-Mulana has anything nearly as mean as Cave Story though.
I identify everyone via avatar, so if you change your avatar, I genuinely might completely forget who you are. -- Me

I was pretty sure that every (physical) version of Jet Set Willy was PAL-only (a nightmare to run in the US)... But then I looked at Wikipedia and saw it also had an MSX release. Okay cool, so that probably came out in Japan. Easier to import. Let's confirm on GameFAQs and see what the packaging looks like...PartridgeSenpai wrote: Bone isn't the only one excited about those ZX Spectrum games. What the hell!
Yeah, so apparently Hudson had "card" games for the MSX. Need this to boot them:

Just when I thought I knew "everything" about retro gaming...
By the way, those Speccy games are hard as shit.
Oh and here's a rad (free) Steam game with Speccy graphics. Good shit.

Huh really?
I assumed the Bee cards were fairly common knowledge. HuCards were basically just an updated format of what Hudson had already done on MSX

I don't know much about the MSX. That bastard wasn't released in the US.
