CFFJR! Even if you don't play anything, please stick around and post your thoughts in here! I miss you, dude. That summer you helped me with that freaking first boss in Earthworm Jim was such a highlight.

Aiight guys, my Summer Games Challenge officially begins today. My husband is going in for ankle surgery, so obviously I gotta bring something to pass time in the waiting room. Thus I am starting somewhat unexpectedly with one of my non-core titles, but one which is among the most general cultural classics of video games... Tetris.

I am a very sub-par Tetris player and have never beaten Mode B without using Game Genie cheats. In fact, my cartridge actually has the Game Genie codes affixed to the back of it. Did you guys know that the Game Boy Game Genie came with stickers of codes to stick on the cart, so that you could enter them without fumbling through the tiny codebooks? Yeah, that was a thing. I'll post a picture later.

Got my Game Boy Pocket and some extra triple As packed, and we're gonna do this.

Please believe in me. My native puzzle language is Puyo Puyo and I fear this will be a struggle.

I actually do remember that being a thing on that crazy huge Game Boy Game Genie.

One of my June Together Retro games is going to be Renegade; so, I’ll add it for that month.
I missed this on your list. These are both horrible choices and you should be ashamed. The choice of "Renegade" specifically just screams "I want to be a retro gaming hipster!" (see, also, Rudra No Hihou). Replace them with better games that actual normal people would regard as classics.

Also, Karate Champ sucks. Just because it is "first" at something doesn't mean it is worth inclusion on these lists. Do better!

Good luck! I am very big into Tetris. I used to bring my gameboy to work and play every lunch break

Now I stick with the NES version, I can play comfortably at level 18 but usually don't break 200k.

Im not sure what would be considered beating the game but if you need any advice let me know!

You think Renegade screams "I want to be a retro gaming hipster!"? Then, you’ll love the fact that I am actually going to play both it and the Japanese version, Nekketsu Koha Kunio-kun!

I agree, however, that Karate Champ sucks. Maybe if I really learn how to play it, though...

Please do not forget the pictures
I NEVER got to play Tetris for more than 10 minutes until recently , i got that Tetris something for xbox one and was destroyed by my wife.
I think you can apply the same principle as i'm doing with fighting games, get satisfied and accomplished with the game to call it beaten.
Good luck and game on!

There is something of an "ending" (or at least a "reward screen") in GB Tetris.

Man, the grind in carmageddon is real and drags down the game to a halt, it is not fun when you have to replay the same maps over and over and over again to farm money and rank up so you unlock the next arena.
The game itself is AMAZING and way ahead of it' time but the ranking system is a major letdown, not game breaking enough thankfully.

Lose #3. It is a cult classic at best, and you can probably dig up something that is much more defining of its era without too much effort.
Way to finger the one I was pretty psyched to actually play, man. Does Suda Goichi mean nothing to you? He made Super Fire Pro Wrestling 3 Final Bout! --Okay, I can't say I really blame you. I will journey up into the mountains and dwell on this for a moment. Fortunately, I'm already in the mountains.

I think I might start on this summer saga this weekend. We'll see. Not sure which game to start with, though. Maybe either Garou, or DQ VI, I guess.

Pierrot, which version of garou are you playing? PS4/Vita?
