So a good thing right? Since all the saturn games are insanely expensive and brilliant.

You should have seen that coming! :P

But on the bright side, buying a console towards its life is great, in my opinion. You don't suffer the draught of releases, as you have a decent library of releases already established and you can pick up some games reasonably cheap.

I don't regret for a minute being a day one adopter of the Wii U, but I definitely suggest that anyone even somewhat interested in it buy one within the next year (especially once the NX launches in March and retailers start trying to liquidate the Wii U).

As for games, most are pretty cheap now; imagine how cheap they'll be in a year or two. Except the big names, of course. Smash Bros and Mario Kart are never going to get cheap...

So... If I understand you, you are definitely recommending to buy something JUST BEFORE the inevitable price drop?

Here's a better Idea: If NX comes out in March, buy a WiiU in June. Three months after the release of the NX, the secondhand market will be flooded with WiiU consoles and games. Alternate idea: Wait until January 2018 when the videogame market goes through the annual post-christmas mini-recession.

I suggest picking up the console sooner rather than later because production ended on them a month or so ago, and I suspect that the console itself will be one that owners tend to hold onto more given the relatively low supply (compared to other consoles).

Also, I live by a "better safe than sorry" rule when it comes to making sure I get a copy of something I really want.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. My guess is that they won't heavily discount it as quickly as you'd think. There's a bit of a trend where the current console makers don't want to heavily undercut their own systems, so I expect the Wii U to maintain a decent value unless the new system is backwards-compatible.

It's a fantastic little system, and it's got some great games for it. Seriously, even with the 10-15 games I have for it, almost every one of them is a home run. Totally worth it.

Also, the Wii U eShop is really, really strong. It has some pretty great console-exclusive games, and it is the best way for console gamers like me to play some games that are otherwise only available on Android, iOS, and Steam (e.g., Electronic Super Joy, Tengami, etc.). There are also some good third-party exclusives (e.g., Freezeme, Star Ghost, EPIC DUMPSTER BEAR!!!).

They had a spell where a lot of utter garbage got put up, but they seem to have buckled down a little bit because, as prfsnl said, it's truly great.

Well, I'm not talking about buying a brand new console, Sarge. I buy everything used. Seriously, from my furniture, to my clothes, to my video games, to the computer I'm typing this message on right now. Nearly everything I own is used.
