^ Obviously haven't played 4 yet. It plays better than a lot of FPS's.
But hoarding is so much fun . Hell that's probably my favorite part of the game is opening every drawer and draining all of the merchants cap reserves.
Might even go and try the advanced difficulty mode on NV some times so I can see how the added need to carry food and water effects the game.
That being said you are right about the gun play it is very inaccurate however that is intentional and once you level up the gun skill it gets much better and/or customize your weapons it's much improved. Playing it with melee or unarmed is also a very interesting experience as well. Since 4 kind of adopted some of the mechanics of Skyrim's skill/lvling system it should be quite improved.

The gameplay is 10x better compared to 3/NV.
NV wasn't so bad. 3 had some stupid issues that made using the sniper rifle useless both inside and outside of VATS, but NV fixed it so the sniper rifles were actually useful again. In fact, by neutering VATS some, NV also made grenades useful again, because nothing is as soul-sapping as trying to use grenades in VATS in Fallout 3.
Still don't have anything to play this on, but I'm not sure if I'd like it or not. It seems like they fixed some of the issues I had with 3/NV, but roughed up some of the stuff I like in the process. Ehh... still kinda interested to see where mods on console go though, purely for the fact that if it goes well, it might (emphasis on might) mean mods coming to console on other games.
Once I finish up NV I'll let myself pick this up. Would have probably already grabbed it had they offered the "Gold" edition with the season pass for PC. Still pisses me off that they only did that for XB1/PS4 .
With the 20% discount for GCU at BestBuy and the $10 credit for preordering I would have been all over it.
You get to a point about two thirds of the way through the main quest where you have to choose between 4 different factions. There are different combinations that will either destroy relations with particular factions or keep them intact, but you have to choose. Which, to me, is sort of annoying, because you can just keep playing after you finish the main quest, but you auto-fail any additional side quests from the competing factions you've made hostile by choosing one or the other. So I'm basically at the point where I'm trying to finish everything up that I can with every faction before finishing the main storyline. It's getting tedious but I'm a completionist with these kinds of games haha.
Just started the game and am only 3 or so hours in. Hard to say if it'll last but I definitely have that old fuzzy feeling again where everything is just so wide open and to be experienced.

I just started playing through the game over the weekend and basically have been building a garbage fort for nine hours and wandering/questing for two or three. I love that everything tends to have a use now whether it be mods or building. I also dig that I'm not constantly having to go into a menu and repair my guns. That being said, the game does feel like it took a couple steps backwards from NV and 3 with the morality system and dialogue. The gunplay feels a lot smoother and more natural and sometimes I forget VATS is even a thing.
A bit annoying that I can only run the game on my laptop. Wireless mouses are a godsend. Trying to get this game to work on my desktop with a Radeon card was an absolute nightmare.
