Re: Have you played an ATARI today!!!
Hooked up the Atari 2600 for a little bit this morning and Cosmic Ark is still my favorite 2600 game and the one of mine that has aged the best. (I also reviewed it as part of my Print-N-Pixel posts the last time I hooked up the 2600)
Also, while playing Galaxian on the 2600, I found myself putting my thumb on top of the joystick like I would the right side of a modern PS3 or XBox controller while keeping my right thumb on the red button.

Nice review. That is indeed a great game. Imagic is a great forgotten developer - one of the best from that era. Atlantis and Demon Attack are also all-time classics.

Dragon Fire, Laser Gates and Moonsweeper are all pretty slick too. There's also Fathom which I'm not sure I like as a game but it's a technical marvel.
Nova Blast on the Intellivision might by my favorite Defender clone. Imagic could squeeze crazy-good graphics out of the early consoles.

Wow your set-up looks just like mine. Complete with the little black "basic cable" box that is always tilted because it's so flimsy the rigid coaxial cable wire perpetually forces it to lean to one side.
What model Atari 2600 system is that tho? Can't quite tell.

Yup. The 1982 model with "Atari 2600" printed on it. Back and orange cool style. I do regret leaving it in my garage for so long though.

Re: Have you played an ATARI today!!!
question: Content-wise, is there a reason to get those Atari compilations on Xbox One rather than the Atari compilation that's now on Steam?

I don't have time to look up specifics, but I believe there is significant overlap between Atari Anthology (PS2, Xbox), Atari Vault (Steam), the two (combined) Atari Flashback Classics compilations (PS4, Xbox One), and the latest Atari 2600 plug n play. By "significant" I mean that there's like 90% overlap. So yeah, just go with whatever hardware you prefer.
