frankly I don't think a lot of people in those communities felt particularly welcome around here.

I don't see anyone doing that in this thread.

Maybe not in this thread particularly but we have had other Brony topics pop up. Either way whether or not people said anything about pedophilia doesn't matter as I have read enough negative comments about them in this thread and on this forum that her point still stands.

Really? In this thread? I think it has been an overall supportive vibe in this particular instance. You will always have exceptions, and I don't know about the board in general, however I think you may be reading too much into at least a few of these posts.

Why such a negative response to inquiries about autism? It seems counter intuitive to defend one thing for people's right to choose while at the same time condemning something they cannot. Autism does not equal stupid, and it has a very large spectrum of people, some of whom are highly intelligent and function quite well.

Quite sure that those were some common generalizations, not pointed accusations. Following irixith's opinions on this thread leads to an obvious conclusion there isn't anything to read into there.

Did I say the overall vibe or did I say enough negative comments? Did I just mention this thread or did I say in this thread and on this forum? You yourself were defending against remarks you deemed negative. If I was a Brony I would not let it be known in this thread.

The first rule of being T is to realize that being offended is a choice. You might indeed be a special snowflake...perhaps even the most special of special snowflakes. The thing is, the rest of the world doesn't give much of a hoot, and sure doesn't enjoy having their language and/or jokes policed by a bunch of folks that have forgotten the lighter side of life because they're too caught up in what special snowflakes they are. It's a big ol' nasty mean world out there, and the sooner you get right with yourself and build up your resilience to the things that don't really matter, the happier you'll be both on and off the internet.

I'm with you, gender hurts a lot of people...but your sense of self/identity should never be an internet comment away from crumbling around your ears.

I'm perfectly clear on it. It obviously wasn't meant to be serious or offensive, check the rest of irixith's posts, and the context of the post. However, apologies if it seemed dismissive AQ, I can assure you it was not.

Of course I was defending their rights. I'm not sure what you're driving at, there have been more positive and supportive comments than negative ones. Expecting that nobody will have a difference of opinion is unreasonable. A majority (including myself) have been pushing to make all members comfortable regardless of gender issues or "Brony" status. To ignore that fact and put it out there as if this is an intolerant community is a bit short sighted and quite frankly dismissive of the efforts of people who have no skin in the game other than being supportive. I'm not sure where the communication barrier is here, but we share the same view on the topic at hand, it seems pointless to bicker over semantics.

I am not one to speak for others but to me it was quite clear that AppleQueso wasn't thinking irixith was trying to be offensive or serious.
