I guess my opinion is a popular one of the Wii. I wonder who still wants to buy a Mario Kart by now , everyone who wants that game probably got it already since the Wii was a cheap option all along and if you didn't have it, some one you know did.

The same person that said that ^ also said this:

"That leaves you with the incredibly crappy library of Wii-only games"

Which contradicts what he/she is saying in your quote, and makes it seem more like he/she is just mad at Nintendo. I wouldn't call it the "popular opinion" based on this one person, especially when that person makes comments like this:

" compared to the Wii, the Gamecube third party library is AMAZING."

We have very different opinions, I never owned a GC and I play GC games way more than I played Wii gams on my Wii. Gamecube interests me a lot more , I understand the Wii has a bigger library but I really find the quality of the GC games are much better including the RE games, Metal Gear, 3D Metroid, I prefer the GC Mario Kart, Prince of Persia, Battalion Wars, Time Splitters, Viewtiful Joe,Beyond Good and Evil, Eternal Darkness, WindWaker ... its just so much more interesting to me at least.

I know some games are shared like Battalion and Metroid, but it just means much more on the console it was released on first. I am sure God of War created much more excitement on the ps2 than over ps3 for example...

My point wasn't that the GC has a poor game selection, I was more pointing out the inconsistencies in this particular poster's rants. If he loved and treasured his Wii, why does he all of a sudden feel it has NO good games? Seems to me like someone who is just angry with Nintendo. Thats fine, but its not "The popular opinion", its just one person that is mad and wants the internet to hear their complaints. Pointing out that last bit was just to show that the poster isn't trying to be objective here, as the claim that the GC has AMAZING 3rd party support compared to the Wii is at least debatable

However, we can touch on Wii vs GC games, but first I have to point out this:

The Resident Evil games and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes are both remakes. Fantastic remakes, no doubt, but the GC is not the console it was released on first. We should apply the same rules of comparison to both consoles. Granted, these remakes are more effort than the GC-to-Wii ports, so you can include them if you like, I still don't think their inclusion tips the favor in the GCs direction.

So, setting those 2 aside for now, and putting Loz:WW, Metroid Prime, and Mario Kart aside (Remember, we are talking about 3rd party support), your list looks like this:

Time Splitters
Viewtiful Joe
Beyond Good and Evil
Prince of Persia
Eternal Darkess

Now, if we take out games not exclusive to the system, your list looks like this:

Eternal Darkness

... don't get me wrong, I love Eternal Darkness (and Baiten Kaitos, and Tales of Symphonia), but this hardley screams AMAZING compared to the Wii's 3rd party support.

I have a Wii-U, and I play it quite often. I like the system quite fondly. Playing Mario brings back good memories. As for it being a dead console, sadly I have to agree. Neither the Wii or Wii-U are doing that well in the market. Nintendo does dominate the hand-held market though; so at least they have that.

@Dunpeal

You make good points but I do not want to turn this thread into Wii vs GC because we discussed this many times else where, and I do not want to "beat a dead horse" , and I think this might upset other readers in the forums but...

Resident Evil 0/Code Veronica/RE4 are not remakes and were GC releases.
The Remakes (1/2/3) especially 1 , were very welcomed that enhances the experience significantly, unlike the Wind Waker HD where you probably have to squint to see the difference.

The Wii might have more exclusives, no matter how good or bad they are, but please do not forget it sold 5x as much as the GC , and has been on the market for a full year over the GC before its replacement came along.

@Sano

I have a hard time believing people out there still play hand-helds . I almost never saw a DS any where, except a 3DS when a friend of mine purchased it and brought it over to show it to us, and I have seen few PSP's maybe around 2006 or something. Maybe its the region I live in or something.

What... the only full remake was RE1. RE2 and 3 were ports, and aren't even arguably the definitive ports (especially RE2). Code Veronica was originally on Dreamcast.

...and comparing those ports to Wind Waker HD? Please, Wind Waker HD has more new additions and new features than any of the RE ports. It's not just higher res and visual upgrades, there's the fast sail, the Miiverse integrated bottles, the various interface tweaks that make the game play more smoothly, etc.

RE 0 , Code Veronica, and RE4 were same generation releases and not ports or remakes.
The RE1 graphical jump is huge its almost a different game while the WindWaker is almost undistinguishable .

I am not really sure how many people out there are going to buy a Wii-U and replay WindWaker HD just because it has MiiVerse integrated bottle... Is it a better version? I guess yes, is it worth getting the system or replaying it... I dont know...

He said PORTS talking about the RE 2-3-veronica. There's a big diference between remake and port, and a lot of people don't understand that diference. Wind Waker is a enhanced port (like every HD port).

Oh man...let's start this argument... I pulled this comment from a website.
PS4 is the better system. It's a fact!

SONY has been schooling XBone since day 1. It's a fact!

The PC master race is full of geeks. It's a fact!

PS4 is the only clear and logical choice! To dispute this is to be a troll or just want to start flaming. It's a fact!

The world is not flat. It's a fact!
Guess PS4 is the best system ever because someone on a website made a comment that backed up that idea. Maybe I should start looking at youtube for validation while I'm at it.
